Part Time Lather Hog

I face lather with a Rooney 3/1 in 'genuine silvertip' (it appears that ClassicShaving.com is the only vendor who sells that particular grade of hair for a Rooney). I mostly use creams (The Body Shop Maca Wood, Real Shaving Company Sensitive, and C.O. Bigelow), but have recently started to evaluate hard soaps, my first candidate being a puck of C&E Nomad.

When I use the creams, I typically have no problem getting the brush to give up its lather during 2nd and later passes. However, with the Nomad, I almost always have to squeeze lather out by hand and apply it to get something other than a thin and somewhat dry coat.

When I first started using Nomad I was having some trouble getting enough lather, but after researching that topic here, the consensus seems to be that you really have to dig into the puck, so I stay on it about 30 seconds. Since I started doing that I don't seem to have any trouble getting enough lather and my water balance seems good as far as consistency is concerned. The brush just doesn't want to give this lather up vs. the creams.

Ideas?

Load it for a minute if necessary- C&E soaps are not easy to lather.
There is no such thing as a "lather hog" just a brush that does not have enough lather loaded into it. Use more product or get a smaller brush.
Hope you find the sweet spot.

Looks like I'll get a chance to try both. I'll give the Rooney some more time when I'm loading it next (probably tomorrow morning). And later this week I'm expecting the arrival an Omega 21047 which is both smaller and perhaps a bit more compatible with soap.

Thanks for the quick reply!
