OS soap on Ebay

Gentlemen,

This stuff is too rich for my blood. I've bid on 5 different NOS OS soap pucks and all have gone for $50 or higher. Also 4 of the 5 auctions were won by the same bidder. Hope he is one of us. OS soap is supposed to be very good, but I can get new tallow soaps from $1.95 Arko to $30 DR Harris. Oh well.

Anybody know where I can get some Yardley?

Maybe Krissy will be successful at making a great tallow-based OS soap; it will certainly be less expensive than NOS OS soap on da bay.

I hope someone in P&G has enough brains left to realise how profitable a re-introduction of OS shaving soap in the market would be.

For fifty bucks, I'd want to Old Spice sea captain to come and shave me himself. Just not worth it--I'll hold out to see what Krissy comes up with. In the meantime, I think that TGQ's Desert Ironwood goes pretty well with Old Spice, as do the SCS and TGQ Bay Rum soaps.

have you been watching the Yardley SS prices??????

wholly smokes.

Yeah, I bid on one that ended almost at $100, just silly. I hope lady luck provides me with a bowl of tallow EF before the frenzy on ebay begins...

I was in on that one. will NOT pay $100 for old soap. won't, just won't.

thought I won a cheap one right after that but got sniped in last 1/2 second!!!!! (I thought I was sniping that one!)

Frankly, I am expecting this stuff to improve my love life, help me lose ten pounds, take the gray out of my hair and abolish the designated hitter.

Legend does say that in addition to being the worlds greatest shave soap it also provides natural male enhancement.

I've given up on the Yardley, too rich for my blood. Even if it is the greatest soap ever made, I still have several that work wonderfully for me that didn't cost $100 for the puck.

Hear, hear!

I'm of the opinion that B&B (and other sites) have made "cheap Yardley" a thing of the past LOL!

That said, I did buy a vintage puck of Old Wrisley Soap on Ebay for 10 bucks. Yardley bought Wrisley and allegedly, the two are very similar. Having never used Yardley, I can't compare, but I did write a review of Wrisley's here.

I guesstimate the soap to be at least 30 years old. It still lathers like a dream!

Give it a few months and the wave will be on the low side,......up and down this stuff goes.
Remember Christmas is just around the corner and there is always a huge influx of goods to hit the bay and swarms of buyers trying to scoop it up.

New title for you, sir--"Purveyor of False Hope." I've been watching ebay for a hint of Yardley for several months, and all three pucks (!) I've seen have gone for $70 or more. Of course, one did sneak by me in a set, but on the whole I've been rather vigilant. Then again, maybe I fail at ebay.

Don't worry--they don't!

Guys, I think between the three shaving forums we have done ourselves in as far as e-bay/antique store bargains. But most things are cyclical so who knows a year or two out from now?

I still believe that many antique dealers and flea market dealers consider old razors to be a "nuisance" item as when I have purchased them they were incredulous and most asked "Are you really gonna use that?" A couple dealers have thrown in an extra razor or two just to get rid of them- so you never know what you'll find.

As far as the OS soap...too rich for my blood and probably being driven by folks of this forum. But obviously worth the price to some....

Did I miss something or is Krissy working on an Old Spice recreation?? Hope so!

cheers,

Marty E.

i picked up a couple yardley soap bowls in the $20-$30 range and snagged an old spice for something like $10-$15.

don't get discouraged!
