Ordered 1st Straight

Well I just couldn't take it anymore!

After watching Joel's video over and over and reading everything I could on the forum I finally pulled the trigger and bought my first Straight Razor and Strop, a Dovo Ebony Silver Steel 5/8" and a 2" Latigo strop w/a wool felt back.

Now the hard part begins...waiting for it to arrive in the mail!

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who contributes on this forum and especially to all of those that I hit up with IMs.

We hope it will all work out well for you. I hope you ordered the razor to be honed before shipping to you. If you have any questions or run into trouble using it feel free to post. Make sure you do not ( DO NOT) lift the spine off the strop and if you flip the razor over at the end of a stroke nor damage the edge.

I ordered it from SRD, so it should be honed when I receive it. Thanks also for the lesson on the strop.

I plan on taking it slow and learning to shave my face one section at a time like is recommended.

I've been lusting after straight razors for a while now... I'm wondering how long until I take the plunge!

Unfortunately, I think if a straight showed up at my house SWMBO would be the one plunging it into my back!

I kept going back and forth since before Joel posted the video, but finally I caved.

My problem is I just couldn't order a straight and strop I had to get a few new shaving creams to go with it.

I skipped from cartridge razors right to the straights...I'd never go back (although my brother's "mentorship" helps).

Well, I was suppose to receive my new Straight yesterday, but it didn't happen.

I had ordered enough product from SRD to get their free express shipping, I couldn't just order a straight and strop I needed some new Creams to go with it. The package was sent out on Wednesday, but for some reason it was returned to SRD on Thursday instead of coming to me in Georgia

So it looks like it will be a few more days before I can try out my new Straight.
