Optimum size for soap container

Does anybody got a grip - an angle - the beta - on what is the optimum size container for soap? Let's assume the soap will be milled into the container so manufactured soap size is not a constraint.

The idea of buying plastic containers with screw on tops is interesting and I would like to get the right one first try - flash the route so to speak.

Also, face lathering, not mug lathering.

thanks,
jim

I get the 2 ounce white plastic cosmetic jars from specialtybottle.com and mill my various soaps into those. It makes it easy to pack a variety of soaps for travel that compliment the 2 ounce bottles I use for the various AS and ASB I bring as well. I use a label maker to label the jars. The 2 oz. cosmetic jar is perfect fit for the Wee Scot, will have to try my new Case when it arrives.

i like the plastic containers from mama bears soaps for travel purposes. i think she sells empty ones on her websites. at home i just have them in little pyrex bowls, they're stackable so you can save space.

I have been using the bowl in the VDH combo pack and it's perfect for me. It holds a puck very well, and that is what it's meant for right.

If you are planning on "melting" and combining large soaps together, you might need a larger one but I like more compact bowls personally.

thanks all,

I did go to Mama Bears and did some purchases:

Travel Tub
Twist-up Travel Stick Containers .75 oz.
Lime Ice Glycerin Shave Soap 100?a
Lilac and Lavender Glycerin Shave Soap
Unscented Glycerin Shave Soap

I'm not sure why I bought the Twist-up Travel Stick Container, I don't travel. Well, maybe I'll visit my wife's bathroom!

I'll grate the soaps in.

Whatever works best for you. I personally like salsa or dip bowls...I find they are small enough to fit in my palm and large enough to hold and generate a decent amount of lather. Some use cereal bowls while others like smaller containers like previously mentioned.

I use the disposable "Glad Ware" containers that are sold for leftovers or lunch boxes. These have a plastic lid, are easily stacked, unbreakable if dropped and found right in the local supermarket with the baggies, wraps and foil. The size I have is 1/2 cup container and the soap can be grated or softened and pressed into the small container, in just the right propotion, from the puck of soap. The opening at the top is large enough to swirl your brush into if your going to face lather or else generate a superlather in a bowl.

^seconded. cheap and effective. When grating my first one in though, I kind of overfilled it. Don't go all the way to the top, even if you face lather.

I asked this question awhile back, and someone suggested Pyrex bake cups. I went to our local discount store and bought a four-pack of the one-cup size for $8. At that price, they cannot be beat!
