Opinions on Truefitt & Hill (T&H) Shaving Creams

Hi all,

Not too many places to pick up old school, brush and lather style shaving creams. I'm a bit of a fan of T&H stuff, unfortunately the last store that carried them in my area closed... and that was a long while ago so it's hard to remember the smells of each.

Opinions on their different flavors?

I got the West Indian Limes, which I remember being pretty interesting. Guess I'll find out when it gets here. Definitely different then the smell of canned Gillette.

Replies will be all over the map. I like the WIL and I'm a big fan of 1805.
If I had to guess I'd say the most popular scent around here is probably Grafton, but I don't really like it much. A lot of love for Trafalgar, too, which is a so-so scent for me.

I'm in the category of loving the T&H lines especially Trafalgar, I have tried West Indian Limes and am not a fan but after trying samples of Almond I think my next tub of cream will be T&H Almond. As for opinions for you I would say that the best option for you is to get a sample pack and try them all. I started by buying a T&H brush which always comes with a sample pack of creams.

Don't forget if you order from T&H to use the code BB13 during checkout. I believe that you have to purchase more than just samples to use the discount code.

I'm not much of a cream user as I prefer hard soaps, but the T&H sampler pack is definitely a must buy. The first T&H sampler pack I used them all. The second sampler pack, that I got with a brush, I only used Rose, Trafalgar, UC and Grafton. I PIF'd the rest, including the balms. All perform great, but the only T&H scent I am considering buying is Rose, to replace my lone TOBS Rose cream. Trafalgar would be my second favorite.

Grafton is my favorite..... followed by Ultimate Comfort (light lavender scent). I have 1805 and Trafalgar as well.... and they are both good. Sandalwood from my T&H sampler made my face burn and turn red.

T&H Ultimate Comfort is my #1 cream. It does not have much of a scent but is an excellent performer.

The sampler is the way to go.

My top three TH creams would be 1805, Grafton, Trafalgar...in that order. I'm currently working through a tub of 1805 and will most likely replace it with the same when it's gone. TH is pricey but it's good stuff.

I haven't bought any T&H creams lately but my two favorites are Rose(marvelous scent) and the Ult. Comfort which has a light Lavender scent. Both creams make excellent lather. As far as their Limes cream,Castle Forbes Lime is miles and miles better,IMO(And no more expensive, considering the size of the respective tubs)

T&H creams are great performers, and IMO the best of the remaining UK creams. The lavender scent is terrific, complex and very well-done. The rose is also tremendous. I don't care for the cologne-scented creams they do, but I've not had a bad performer from them.

Intersting thread. T&H products are uniformly high quality. Their sampler is excellent value and customer orientation very good.
I've just received a box of 1805 stuff and look forward to using them.

T&H creams are absolutely top notch, they might be the best on the market today IMHO. Their Rose and Lavender creams are the gold standards for those two scents. Trafalgar is excellent. WIL is my very favorite lime cream and my go to for summertime.
