One lather is great for a DE, but not good for a straight?

Right now I have two soaps I am working with: a VDH deluxe that came with my brush, and Kiss My Face cool mint cream. I can whip up what I think is a great full lather that works great with my DE shaver, but is sticky and absolutely non-slick when I put my straight to my face.

Are there better soaps/creams for straight over DE? Or is there something wrong with my lathering that doesn't show up when I shave with DE but does with the straight?

Add a few drops of water to your lather. When using a straight, a "runny" lather works better.

Since switching to straights, I've come to use soaps exclusively. Not just any soaps, either. The lather has to be the slickest of the slick.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the products you're using, but you may enjoy some different soaps more. I'm sure that other straight-razor users would be happy to offer suggestions.

Right on. I'll start making my lather a little more runny. It looks as though I may be heading down the road of soap acquisition as well :)

Same here. Most of the lather pics shown on B&B would be useless for me when using a straight. A thin coating of very dense and very wet lather works best for me, and I don't find it to be product dependent.
