Omega 31064 vs Semogue Owner's Club

I really like the only decent boar brush that I currently have, an Omega pro 49, but would like a little nicer quality/looking boar. I really like both the Omega 31064 and the Semogue Owner's Club brushes. I have heard good things about both, but right now only want to purchase one of them. If there's anyone here who has used them both I would appreciate your opinions on both. Thanks in advance.

That makes two us. I have discovered face lathering with a boar, and I'm also looking at getting "the best."

I'm still in the break-in period for the SOC, so I think other members who have used it more extensively could assist here. It is also my first Semogue brush.

Personally first impressions are that the SOC backbone feels better (i.e. is stronger), the knot surprisingly denser, as well as the ergonomics of the handle are different and more suited to my style of holding the brush.
Nonetheless, this particular Omega model is a well-established workhorse and the longer loft is perhaps better suited to different applications.

My 31064 had only been used 13 times. And then the soc came on the scene and has been used only 9 times so far on the break-in. I'm actually getting anxious to bring out the 31064 again because it definitely impressed me, as does the semogue. N_Architect correctly noted a different feel and the 31064 has a tad longer loft as he also noted. I face lather both creams and soaps and both work great! I'd say whichever one you buy you'll be wanting the other one anyway, so take your pick. And ... most of all Enjoy the chase!

Both are good choices...

I would go for the SOC...the Omega circular plastic ring tends to breaks when the knot expands...the SOC ring is metal which should prevents damage to the handle

Speaking of my boars, it's been since Jul 21 I've had my omegas out. Got wrapped up in a few semogue boars. So today I brought out the 31064...darn, it's hard to pick a favorite! Made a ton of lather with d r harris almond soap! Excellent shave! Now to decide just how to rotate or maybe use omegas for a month or so then semogues...or just whatever the urge calls for! Hope ya'all enjoy the shaves as much as I do!

+1

I have both, and as a soap face latherer like the SOC much better. It has more backbone a shorter loft and is stiffer even after a good soak. Though if you like bowl lather creams the softer hair of the Omega could be a good thing. IMO the Omega handle looks nicer and is more comfortable too.

This might be heresy, but I cut off about 10mm of bristle on my Omega 31064 and I like it much better now. The loft is still a bit floppy but not to a fault anymore. I left the top flat to load hard soaps better. I also made sure not cut off all of the bleached band of hair so it still has the softness of the (treated?) Omega bristles. Granted it took another month to break back in, to say it was scratchy after the trim would be an understatement. I'm much happier with it now than when I purchased it, but again I still like the SOC better. Just my 2 cents YMMV.

Seriously. It has lots of backbone, it lathers up a storm, but it looks like it went to bed with wet hair. The Omega stays looking better. But on balance, I'd go with the SOC.

I don't know about bed head. It reminds me more of a sexy woman's messed up hair. There is something very appealing about it.
