Omega 31064 and shedding?

TheShaun

Bejeweled
Anyone else have issues with their 31064 losing bristles? I just received mine from WCS and it seems that every use I'm losing 3-4 hairs. Did I get a dud?

I lost 1-2 hairs probably for the first three shaves each time. Haven't lost any since and it is getting used 2-3 times per week.

Face lathering or bowl lathering? I think face lathering could be hard on a new brush. If bowl lathering, are you pressing hard into the side or bottom?

If the hairs are very dry and stiff, they could break off easily. Did you go through the stink removal routine and shampoo and put some conditioner in your brush? I'm not sure, but I think it helped with my boar brushes. Once you start using the brush in a routine that keeps it conditioned, and yet lets it dry out, it might stop.

Just a thought. I'm not having any trouble with mine.

I have been using my 31064 for approx four months. I lost several bristles the first few times I washed it. I have not lost any bristles since. My brush had very little odor. I soaked the brush in hot water for about ten minutes and washed it several times with Dr. Bronners, Pure-Castile, Pepermint soap. I then whipped up several batches of lather with some ARKO soap. I have been using the brush steadily since. It is softening nicely. I have a extra large, Edwin Jagger Best badger brush. I think the Omega does just as good a job making proper lather as the EJ at about 1/3 the cost.

I've been using mine for three weeks, almost steady. I lost about two hairs at the berginning, and nary a one since.
