Old Spice Shave Soap

Have any of you guys purchased a N.O.S. stock of sealed Old Spice shave soap? Does it still retain the fragrance after all of these years? Is it worth the cost of paying for one on famous auction site? How does it lather? David

I have 4 of them. There is sill scent , but I am sure not as much as it was when new. I love OS Soap , It lathers like nobody's business. It is an awesome soap. Worth the cost in my opinion.

I agree , some prices are too high , but sometimes you can find decent deals on them. My last two were both sealed in box nos pucks for $12 each..

If you want the scent buy some Indian OS cream - almost as good. The soap is utterly fantastic but MWF and many others are not outclassed by it.

Find it for $10 or less. You can find some great soaps still in production for the same price. It is a great soap, but not worth more than $10 (possibly the $12 Paul got it for!). The two pucks I have came in lots with a mug and brush to be restored for about $20.

I have about eight pucks in reserve. Some in mugs, some as refills. most seem to still have some scent left. My experience is that they lather as well as some of the all time greats, but like others have mentioned, it is really up to you if the cost is worth it. There are really some top performers out there now with very reasonable prices. Mike's immediately comes to mind.

I have 2 sealed pucks. They smell great still. You can smell them from a foot away.

That said, the Old Spice Lather cream from India smells AMAZING. If you can't find a NOS soap with scent, get that. It's a scent BOMB.

+1 Used the OS Musk this morning and the fragrance was fantastic. Great lather and great shave also.

Yeah, i have never got much more than a light soap sent from the vintage pucks, but one does stay in my rotation due to it lathering so well. There is somthing cool about a soap that old and im the first one to use it. So did they used to smell like Old Spice AS?

I also use the Old Spice shave cream from India. It works great with my new G12 scuttle. I have tried Prairie Creations version but the fragrance is kind of overpowering. Thanks to everyone for their input. Happy shaving. David

I have a few pucks in reserve. The puck I am using now has a very faint scent so I rubbed it with some vintage Old Spice cologne. It has a great scent now!

Not quite. It's more like the Old Spice scent with a creamier, soapier background.

I never found a good deal for the real thing so here's what I did: I took a Arko stick that had been sitting in the windowsill for a couple of weeks in the draft so there was hardly any smell left and I grated it, I then mixed it with a tube of old spice cream and warmed it up a bit so it would be soft enough to thoroughly mix together. I put it in a ceramic dish and let it sit for a week, now it's the best lathering soap there is with a great smell, I can hardly smell the Arko/lemon, just the old spice but fresher...
I love it!!!

One of my favorite soaps and the one I started shaving with when I began shaving. I have found the fragrance to have faded away but the performance to have remained outstanding. It will always be in my rotation. Considering what I pay for C&S I believe it is reasonable at $20.

Also , I find OS Soap has wonderful moisturizing properties in it. My face feels great after a shave with OS Soap.
