took the fili out and the edge just wasn't "there".. *(it was a coti edge).... it was hella sharp but just not "there"....

so i broke out the ole 1k king water stone and set a bevel that popped arm hair on a HHT1 level.... *(nice...)

then i pulled out the JNAT and rubbed her up with the botan... then circles and passes till it felt right diluting as i went....
then the next nagura *(can't remember the name and too lazy to go upstairs to read it)... circles and passes with dilution...
then koma... circles and passes with dilution...
then tomo nagura... circles and passes with dilution...
plain water ... circles and passes.....
stropped on the kanayama
hht 4++++

lathered up with TOBS soap and made a 3 pass with a touchup....

sitting here BBS and smelling of pinaud.....

ahhhhhhh....

carry on.. nothing more to see here....

I hate to say it, but a Jnat edge off a progression of nagura is hard to beat. YMMV and all that, but it's hard to shave off anything else.

no... i brushed the razor over my arm hair and popped a couple hairs... they caught and tugged a bit... but they popped....

this is a common thing for me when honing.. the hair on my arms are very light and fine...

at the finish level i will touch the edge to a hair on my arm and if it just flies up i know when i get a hair from the brush for a HHT it will be HHT4-5....

i usually have a pretty good case of "honers mange" going at any time....

I tested on my leg a few times, as my arms were getting rather patchy, but stopped after accidentally taking off a huge patch with a Chinese cleaver.

Jnat schmaynat. I'll have to send you a blade to hone on that thing for me, my coti edges are getting better and better and I feel so much love towards them that I couldn't cheat on them by buying my own*. Shaved with one this morning, wonderful irritation free shave, 2 pass DFS only going WTG.

i bought 2 of my jnats from 330mate on ebay... some people have reported bad experiences with him but i KNOW 2 things...

both stones were as advertised...lvl5's.. *(you have to read carefully what your buying..)
and on both i emailed him a best offer on the BIN and he took my offers...

the other jnat i got in a trade with a member here.... it is a lvl4 and i haven't spent as much time with it as the others but it is a nice stone also...
