Today's OC shave was with one of my 1907 Gillette Single Rings. It was a fantastic shave. I used an old 1956 Gillette Blue Blade, some King Louis Lavender shaving soap, myWee Scot brush , and went to town. Topped it all off with a splash of Pinaud Clubman Special Reserve AS, and a couple of squirts of Escape cologne.
I'm in... kind of by accident. Just got directed here via the BOTOC thread. I started more seriously shaving with OC razors a couple weeks ago when I picked up a NEW SC at a local antique store (prior to that it was just an occasional dalliance with an old Cooper). Well that lead grabbing a good deal on a Merkur 15c which I've been wanting to try for some time now, followed by way too much time "wasted" on eBay resulting in another NEW SC and several heads including a couple NEW LCs, an OT thick and an OT thin. So I've been playing with these this first week of OCtober without knowing about this thread.

- OT thin (first try with it, cap has a couple dents on one edge, but that didn't seem to affect the shave and I walked away without shedding any blood)

I always forget what a good shave I get with the New LC.
Did a quick 2-pass shave this morning with my New and a Gillette Platinum. It really gave me a really good shave even with a weak lather. (I over-watered in my prep.)

Here is the update through post 397. I have changed my spreadsheet to use a pivot table because this will reduce the time needed to do data entry and make gathering stats easier. Please review your data and let me know if there need to be changes. This will be particularly necessary if you are using different razors of the same basic type. You will also notice that the sequential numbers are gone. The list is in alphabetic order and this facilitates new persons being entered into the database.

This mornings shave. Feeling smooth, smelling great.
P911 - that is a very nice looking Fatboy. You are welcome to continue posting your shaves here - the pics are great - but this thread is about Open Comb (OC) razors in the month of OCtober. The Fatboy is not an OC. Given your gear, it looks like you are shooting for the Tabactober theme where folks use Tabac items all month. Feel free to stick around, but you will note that SB (safety bar) shaves are not updated in the stats.

If you want to update us with the rest of your OCtober shaves to date, I will update the chart.
I have been taking a walk on the mild side for the last week or so. I have been using a Maggard open comb head alternating with a phoenix artisans double open comb head on a Maggard MR8 handle. To compensate for the mildness of the razors, I have I have used a new feather blade in each. Generally, I get a BBS or close after two passes with maybe a bit of touchup. Next up is my ATT S2...

Here are the stats by razor type. Many thanks to Useless Shaver for working these stats up the last couple of times. He was doing it manually by tabulating what was in my shave chart update. That was taking him some time and was going to take a lot more time as the month wore on. As I have switched to a database format, I can run a pivot table in no time to get the stats. Here they are as of my last update.
The Old Types are running away with it followed by the NEWs. Between the Old Types and NEWs, 56.5% of the shaves are accounted for. The ATT razors are making a stronger showing than in prior years, but that makes sense as the "X"2 heads were just out for last year's event, so they have had a little over a year to get snapped up. Interesting info.
