Neutrigina claims that it softens the hairs so they cut easier; but of corse nothing I've tried works well without a warm towel first. The Neutrigina doesn't lather, it's a cream. It seems to be working fine for my sensitive skin. My skin is very, very particular, so I'm not quick to try new products once I've found one that doesn't dry out my face and take two or three painful weeks to baby back to normal.

The Neutrigina is sold at the local Rite Aid Rx. Is anyone else familiar with this product? If so, how does it compare with more expensive creams, or non-expensive pro-creams? For that matter - I haven't experimented with much of anything else. What is a great shaving product for skin that dries easily? I don't think I should use a soap.

So-called shaving soaps won't dry out your skin anymore than a cream will; that's a holdover from the idea that harsh body soaps dry the skin, which they do. A quality shaving soap won't dry your skin.

The Neutrogena is decent canned goo; I happen to think the Aveeno is even better.

You should not be afraid to try a top-level cream for use with a brush; a good start would be Truefitt and Hill's Ultimate Comfort. For soaps, Trumper's soaps won't dry out your skin.

There are plenty of other options.

Neutrogena is a darn good product by drugstore standards. You might also try the Nivea equivalent which is also easy to find in stores.

T&H UC cream gives a fantastic shave. Since it is unscented, you can feel safe using it on sensitive skin. It doesn't exactly add any moisture to your skin, but it won't dry it out either.

You also might look into products containing Shea Butter. Kiss My Face makes a good Lavender/Shea cream that is available everywhere. Other products with Shea Butter are Institut Karite and Provence Sante. You'll probably have to get these over the internet, but they are easy to find.

Try some Tabac or Mitchell's wool fat shaving soap. I also thought I would only like creams when I started out but man I was surprised when I started using premium soaps. Tabac makes a lather that you could ice a cake with, LOL.
