What's new

NOS Ever-Ready-- what to do with it?

So, I ended up with a new in box unused Ever-Ready. Red handle, octagonal. TINY boar knot in it, unused.

Should I

Keep it in the package and never even take it out?

Take it out and shave with it?

Take it out and put a new knot in it?

Thoughts?

But it's never been used. What other chance is there to preserve a vintage brush completely new in box?

I'm going to mull this over for a bit...

I've only found 1 NOS brush and I could not bring myself to use it (butterscotch Simpsons Key Hole).

Sold it on BST to someone with more chutzpah then myself and they are enjoying it emensly

First thing you do is post pictures for us to enjoy. :biggrin1:

If you have a collection that you display, maybe you want to keep it NOS. Otherwise, I'd try it out and see if you'd like to reknot her or not.

Treasure it and use it! I can gurantee you one thing: If you don't use it, someone else will use it in the distant future, and they might not appreciate the razor as much as you.

So why shouldn't that initial use person be you?

I was lucky enough to find 2 NOS Eveready 150s on eBay for about $15 delivered and have been using one of them as my only shave brush for about 3 months now, works great! It shed a little for a week or so and has been stable ever since, I'm going to see how long it lasts.

this boar knot is so small, I don't see it being of any real use, actually.

I think I'm going to leave it be for a bit, just to keep it new in box and see how I feel in the fall.
