Hey there! I have been wet shaving for over 2 months now, and I have been using my dad's vintage 1969 Gillette Tech and my grandpa's vintage 1943 Gillette Tech.

I have these options in mind, what would you pick and why?

1) ATT Atlas 5 Piece Set
2) iKon OSS
3) Feather AS-D2
3) Dreadnought Spartan/Bluebeards Revenge Scimitar

The only one of those I've tried is the Ikon, and it's really good. If you're thinking of going that route, though, I'd suggest getting the open comb version. It's very mild for an open comb and an amazing shaver.

I also suggest a Mergress. Easily one of the greatest razors I've used and the adjustability makes it suitable for just about everyone. It's pretty monetarily comparable to all the other razors you've listed. If you put a WTB ad on the B/S/T, you should have some offers pretty quickly.

Of the ones you've listed, I'd get the ATT system because it's the only one of them that I've used..... and I've only used the R1 baseplate. I suspect that the M1 baseplate is what I need since the R1 shaves a little bit aggressive for me.

Actually, if I were you, my next razor would be either a Gillette 40's style Super Speed, a Gillette British Rocket HD, or a Gillette British Aristocrat no. 16. The Super Speed is easy to find, but the British Gillettes would be more difficult to source.

The Feather is very mild but effective, a little less mild but still in the mild category would be a Weber Polished (or DLC if you can find one). Between the two I would go for the Weber (cheaper and for me the better razor).

+1 I'd also go with the 40s SS. It's a great razor. Stay with the vintage Gillette's.

If you're at all price sensitive, the new iKon Shave Craft 101 for $70 may be worth considering when it becomes available.

Believe or not, it all depends how often do you shave! It alsodepend in your whisker growth. Gillette Tech are excellent razors if you shave every day or every next day, because are mild. Three-four day growth ( and every day) can be handled with a Edwin Jagger DE 89 L witch is a medium aggressive razor, or an open comb razor such as Muhle R41 or FaTip, or any open comb razor. If you want to shave once a month or 15 days, you should get a straight razor!

Out of those choices I would go ATT. More options and what seems to be many happy customers with a great return policy. I would echo the Weber option, thought. This is a tremendous razor, from personal experience.

daily shaver here, that is why the Techs have worked great! Only a couple days will I run a 2 day stubble.

Now you are tempting me to spend $370!

i sold my oss and own the ikon open comb and like it a lot. i did get to try the slant though today and really like that imo better then the open comb i think. the feather was far to mild for me and i just did not enjoy it. the att set is really nice but pricey imo i used one of them (cant remember which base plate) and it did shave nice though i think it was the middle one. the bluebeard looks just like a de89 if it is i have the barley version and its okay but not nearly close enough for me.
