newest acquisition

I am normally not succumb to RAD, but I saw this on eBay, bid the lowest possible bid ($9.95), and won. It has the Merkur label on it and came in the box, and appears to be old. I was just curious if anyone knows what type of Merkur (travel) razor it is, exactly, or how old it is? Many thanks.

Cool razor, I almost bought that one . I've seen the same set up (3 piece, metal case etc) by multiple manufacturers, from Germany and from Austria.

I saw that one as well, but I trying to keep my RAD under control. When you see this old german travel razors, you picture some German field commander using it right before battle in WW2; but who knows, it could be post war, still a nice razor though.

I'd say possibly pre WW2

I have one of these and they shave very similar to a Gillette Old Type. In fact an Old Type or 'New' head will fit the German handle

If you want a great travel razor , you could use a 'new' head with the telescopic handle and case.

Keep the original head safely somewhere for authenicity though.

Nice grab! There was a period of time when I was going after small travel razors quite a bit. I've let go of most of them but by far, I think this is the coolest. Mine was offered way back then by Hoffritz. And they're nice shavers, so congrats again!

I had two of these, sold one. I really like mine. They are cool for collecting too.
