I've been wet-shaving for ~1 year, but had only been using an EJ DE89. I've recently purchased some adjustables to see how I liked them. I was shaving with a Gillette slim for the first time and set it on 6. This was also my first time with a TTO. I ended up getting a decent shave (in that the hair previously on my face was now gone), but I also cut myself like I had never done before, not even at the beginning. Instead of using the tip of my styptic pencil, I just turned it on it's side and rolled it on my face. Afterward, I discovered that I had loosened the bottom of the handle and it had started to open. The gap was now way bigger than on the 9 setting. I've since used it correctly and got a great shave.

That's a hard, but good, lesson learned. Always remember to tighten the TTO knob that final quarter turn to ensure the blade remains locked in place.
