Razorock Game Changer .84P

Well on a long voyage across the seas, I finally received my slightly (dare I say unnoticeably) used Game Changer .84 SB. Expecting a semi-aggressive razor, I was careful first shave. Hardly any blade feel, so little I checked to make sure I put a blade in it, honestly. A perfect shave with zero weepers, nothing! no feedback whatsoever. A true BBS shave, so why am I complaining? am I complaining? My GF said i had a disappointed look on my face. I told her i'm just confused a bit.

I don't really know what to say. It just shaved perfectly, no blood and I should be thrilled. Why am I not? Why aren't I just super happy that I found a perfect razor for my face that the first time use gave me everything one could ask. Why am I already wanted to find a used higher gap base?

I’m doing a few rounds between the 0.84 and the 1.05 currently. The 1.05 is great! Definitely worth a try if you love the 0.84.
I have the 84 and 1.05. I like both. The 1.05 is slightly more efficient than the 84. If you have the financial means, it’s worth trying both. But on a budget, you only need one. They are pretty close to each other.

Maybe I can find someone who has the 1.05 and wants an .84???
I am also wanting a lupo, I heard they are even more efficient

I have 68, 76 and 84P. I've slowly worked my way down to the 68P. Other than the first pass leaving more stubble, I don't find that the 68P really gives up much by the end of the 3rd pass. The difference for me is that I can also go back to touch up the spots that I always miss and not worry about irritation or sting from the alum block.

I have a Lupo .58 and haven't seemed to master the technique with it yet. I get closer shaves, but I also get a fair amount of feedback from the alum block.

The .84 Game Changer was my favourite for several years, but the 1.05 version finally beat it in October 2024.

If you like the .84, then it's worth trying the 1.05. It was marketed as aggressive (in one of the RazoRock thermometer charts), but to me it feels just like the .84, but more efficient.

I use it with known good blades. I'd try out any new ones with a milder plate.

The Lupos are more efficient and aggressive

The Lupo .72 is fussier about maintaining a shallow angle, I think.

Over the past few months, I've collected all the main blades of the GC. My favorite is definitely the 1.05 because it still feels soft and very smooth and is effective, like a Blackbird, but much more comfortable.

I'll probably surprise a lot of people when I say that the .68 is my least favorite. In fact, I had one of the worst shaves I've had in a long time. Because of their low efficiency, I find myself having to do more repetitions, trying to achieve the smoothness that other more efficient razors give me, and this has brought me, irritation, without getting BBS. Basically, razors that are too soft, have a hard time dealing with my beard, so the .68 is no exception.

I use the .68P with a Feather almost exclusively. The Timeless comes out the odd time I have a couple of days growth, but the Gamechanger is the perfect daily driver for me. It’s nimble, great aesthetics with an old school feel to it. Something that I will mention that maybe gets underrated or overlooked about the Gamechangers is that they leave a ton of residual slickness behind. I’m a daily one pass shaver and have no trouble getting a smooth and still very efficient shave. Touch ups are very comfortable and absolute breeze with the Gamechangers due to the residual slickness they leave on the skin. I think this is a byproduct of the very thin safety bar and lather holes working together.
