Newbe here...what can I use for a slick back wet look. No wax please.

Wow, 1st post....obviously I am a newbe here. :w00t:
Great forum site by the way. :thumbup1:

My question is: What is the best product to get a desired slick back wet look with great hold not using a wax. I was thinking about using something like American Crew pomade or Layrite...?

Currently I get the desired look using both of these:
However my hair is stiff and hard. I would like the same look but without the stiff feeling.

Of the two products you listed, the Layrite will give you better hold, but may leave your hair a little stiff. The AC Pomade won't leave you feeling crusty, but it also doesn't have really strong hold. The AC will also wash out easier. I'd recommend the American Crew, but if your hair is particularly unruly you may need something with stronger hold. Welcome to B&B!

I used the göt2b products for a while. I ended up a helmet but that stuff sure works. Another one, I think a bit better, American Crew styling gel firm hold.

Vitalis

Vinyl Net (Final Net hairspray)

I have no experience with either, at least that I can remember. I may have used Vitalis back in the dawn of history, when I was 11 years old.

Thank you guys, I appreciate it. I have ordered two non wax pomades: The original Layrite and Suavecito pomade. We will se how they stack up to the "stiff glue".

I'm in trouble now .... I have spent hrs looking at DE Razors and wished I had the patience to use a straight razor. Most likely going to order a Merkur 38C. The problem is that there are too many choices on brushes and shaving soaps/creams and I am lost in a sea of products.....:scared:

Layrite is great and warm it in your palms to make sure it doesn't go on clumpy.
Sweet Georgia Brown pommade is also great and smells really good.

Layrite is good. Monkey Brains Grease Monkey Pomade is relatively the same, but WAY cheaper ($4 vs. $20). Check out rebel rouser's pomade reviews. Just google it. :p
