New R41 Rosegold

Just got my new R41 in the mail yesterday. The fit & finish are typical Muhle, fantastic. The Rosegold on the handle really looks great. I tried it out last night with a 3 day growth. I used a GSB for the first trial. I lathered with MDC using a Rooney Emillion 2 band. The shave was nothing short of great. The razor itself seemed to dictate the proper angle. It delivered a BBS shave in just 2 passes WTG, ATG with no buffing required. No nicks, cuts or errors. My Castle Forbes 1445 aftershave balm produced a nice soothing feeling with no burn or sting. The kicker is the next morning it still feeles like I just shaved. The only negative I have is the handle does get a bit slippery when wet. Maybe not the right choice for a newbie but highly recommended after a bit of de experience.

I got one about a month ago as well. Great shaver. I've read many complaints about the "slippery handle" but it is visually stunning IMO. I would have to agree that even my smooth handled Edwin Jagger DE89 seems to be less slippery than my Muhle handles.... but I still love the looks of them..... especially the rosegold. Enjoy!

Take a look at the Ikon handles. They'll fit perfect, and will really make that razor fir nice.

I'm sure they would be nice but the Muhle handle is not that bad & it would be pretty stupid for me to pay extra for the Rosegold handle & then replace it. :confused1 Overall I'm pretty happy the way it is.

I am using my 2011 R41 in its original (chrome) handle - and yes, it is slippery when I get a bit lather on it, especially when I am using small handle brushes like the omega midget. I just rub my wet fingers on an alum block for 1~2 secs to get rid of the slipperiness.

And I agree - the rosegold looks great!

Darn it... my retailer didnt have any of the Rosegold in stock, so I went for the stock R41.... A VERY impressive razor and by far the best in my collection so far.. I have a Mekur 39C on order... so let see how that goes in comparison!
