What's new

New product at Bestshave.net

I have tried a new product on Bestshave.net and it is Arko Classic Fat Cream.

It comes in a very small tube (the size of a travel toothpaste) and it is the oils that are in shaving cream with no cream. You can mix it with cream or soap that does not normally provide a layer of slickness and it really improves the shave.

The reason why I bring this up is because this stuff works great with just lathering your brush on some glycerin soap and then applying a very small amount and brush away. It makes a great lather. This can be carried on your trips and you can either use a soap that is at the hotel or carry a general soap of your liking and use it instead of some hotel soaps that are not very good. The small size allows for a more efficient travel kit.

I used morning this along with the glycerin soap and what a nice combination :thumbup1:.

Thanks for clarifying. It can be only be used in conjunction with shaving soap or as an aftershave balm of sorts.

That's is what I found out, that this in and of itself cannot be used to shave directly. Put this in with soap and it makes a great deal of difference.

It is also good as a face balm but it does not have the same bang for your buck as it would a lather enhancer.

This is Miracle cream as they call it. It is thick and heavy with beeswax, lanolin, and castor oil. Mostly used for chapped hands and not so much shaving. If your hands are raw like they are here in N.J. by late December this is a great base to start healing them, then use another cream as a maintainer. It is water proof in my opinion which makes it great for this purpose since hand washing won't remove it while it works.

Arko makes other creams in round dishes which would be better suited for aftershave even though they are realy like a Ponds or Jergens type of skin cream. The weather is harsh in parts of Turkey so their creams are well suited for this purpose.

It sound like that is what is missing or in too low of quantity in some shave creams. Eucerin cream has a similar ingredients but is not quite as slick as this. Could be the oil in it makes it a miracle cream.

I have some, I've only used it once when I messed up a shave pretty badly. It works well to sooth your skin. I'm going to try adding it to some shave soap to make a super lather and see how it works.

Hi folks.

Is it accurate to say that the consensus here is that bestshave.net is a reputable and reliable seller? I hesitate to even ask at this point, but I am dealing with an issue right now that has made me very suspicious of them and how they are handling my order. I want to give them to chance to make it right -- especially if they have already established a strong reputation -- before I give out any details.

Thank you and feel free to send me a PM with your input so as to not start a "trash" thread that benefits no one.

Thanks again in advance.

Information about a vendor is not a trash thread. It is helpful!

True -- but it's still too early for me to feel comfortable starting a new thread on this. I just wanted to know if they have established a reputation here as of yet (as I'll be willing to continue to give them the benefit of the doubt, if they have).

Hi folks.

I am now happy to report that Bestshave.net came through. I will chalk things up to a misunderstanding / case of “lost in translation” error. In short, what initially prompted my concern was that I was sent a notification after only three days of placing my order that my order had been "delivered," even though it had obviously not been delivered. Upon inquiring about this, I was essentially told "here are your tracking numbers -- look it up." This seemed unhelpful and given this was my first order from this seller, I was starting to wonder if I was being given the run around. For what it's worth, the two tracking numbers I was given were for the Turkish Post who was apparently handling the first leg of the journey, and a UPS tracking number that never did end up registering in their system.

With all of this now behind me, I can say that the Turkish Post’s webpage, as well as Bestshave.net’s own account information page, have a less-than-clear way of distinguishing “delivery to destination" from delivery to most any one of the other multiple stops this package apparently needed to make along the way. As such, twelve days or so later my package arrived safe and sound (it even contained an extra freebie) – even though I was never able to get a status update beyond the 3-day-in “delivered” notice… I will order from Bestshave.net again, but I suggest they prepare a little tutorial for new buyers about what to expect in terms of the potentially misleading automated shipping/delivery notices they are likely to receive.

Perhaps, but consider the market to which they cater (not the same as what you/we're probably used to)....and they are the best place I have found for genuine Permasharp blades.
