Hi everyone, just a new guy that decided to jump into the world of safety razors with both feet.

Just picked up a Merkur 34c,

As well as some blade samplers to see what works for my face. Some Merkur, Astra, Dorco, and Bolzano. I'm looking forward to the steep learning curve that I've read comes with safety razors, but also a closer shave and less plastic waste.

Welcome. You may be surprised how easy it can be to learn to use your Merkur, which is a great razor.

Welcome aboard!

Looks like you are starting with some excellent kit!!

I suggest youread through the Wiki and watch a few videos.

Any advice for a good shaving cream? I've read that you shouldn't use the spray can stuff for safety razors.
You can use the canned goo, but I highly prefer a shave soap or cream. I am quite fond of Stirling soaps, but I have also had good results with Taylor of Old Bond Street (TOBS) creams. There are a lot of others soaps, such as Arko that others like if you search the forums.

Try as many different blades as you can. Try A Blade is a good source. You can buy as many or as few of any blade you might like to try.
