What's new

New ebay razors

So I see ebay has been flooded with another new brand of DE: The Nanjie. Seems to come with a Flying Eagle blade. The same razor is offered by different sellers.

I know it's cheap, but if anyone tries one, I'd be interested to know about the quality.

The case is the same that the Vincent came in. The razor looks similiar but definately not the same. One picture I looked at looks like they may have put some blade gap on it unlike weishi or vincent.

Some pictures of the Nanjie and the Vincent. Had to steal one picture as you will see.

I take it back. Not Weishi for sure, a repackaged Vincent. Just logos are different.

My brother-in-law got me one for christmas. The eagles brand blade (or whatever it is named) that the razor comes with is awful. It was my first DE and i almost quit after having such problems with the blade. I switched to a Derby blade and it made all the difference in the world. While I was cleaning some vintage razors my grandfather gave me I put it in the pot to boil with the other three razors and found out the base of the razor, even though it looks like it is metal, is really plastic. Still shaves fine though, as long as it has a different blade on it.

That case looks like it would fit a superspeed and a pack of Personna red's quite nicely. Might be worth it just for that.

curiosity got the best of me and I picked one of these up today. I got it mostly for the travel case, but I will give the razor a wack at my face and get back to y'all.

More than the thing is worth probably. $10 after shipping... I wasn't planning on spending that much, but meh... Why? where you the other bidder? :biggrin1: whomever was bidding against me, if you spent 25 more cents, it would have been yours lol....

Not me. I've been looking for a 1912 and everyone is waiting until the last 3 seconds to outbid me :( $10 is the most I'd pay just to have the case. Still looking forward to hearing how the razor performed for you though.

I've had my nanjie for a while now.
It seems a nice sturdy case.
I've said this before in other threads - the razor is very cheaply made. Every little thing about it screams garbage. Uneven blade exposure. And still, it delivered a nice close shave. Go figure.

edit: note I say 'delivered'. I only used it once. I've said before that I planned on using it again because it worked so well. I don't think I shall. I don't like looking at it. It's uncomfortable. It challenges my belief that craftsmanship matters so it sits in its case.

there are also new TTO´s under the name romer which look interesting,

That looks very much like the razors sold elsewhere on E-Bay as "omex". Moderator Thirdeye ordered a few, and found them to be of horrific build quality.

Except a quick search of E-Bay doesn't yield any razors under that brand name any longer. Perhaps the seller knows about the bad press, and has switched the "brand name" of this razor to foil potential buyers.

The Romer arrived today and here are a few snaps.

You have to admire the mission statement, if not its grammar

It's polite at least

build quality is a bit ropey and I'm a bit wary of the blade alignment

Good morning, does it make shave better? I've also seen one very similiar to that one sold as a Parker 510.
