What's new

NEW CLUB - Vintage Gillette Razor Fan Club “VGRFC”

Pat. Canada , oval slot, solid service type handel……a smooth, mild shave.

Quite heavy with this solid handle. I prefer how the pre-war version performs but I think I should try this handle with it.
Haven’t seen a lot of these in the U.K. but maybe they’re common in Canada?

New to me Made in England Gillette. Presume it’s a tech? Lovely little Bakelite handle. Needed a travel razor and this should fit the bill nicely.

A bizarre shave today, and the vintage Gillette to the rescue…

Razor: Parker 11R>Gillette Bakelite handle Tech
Blade: Lord Platinum
Brush: Maws ‘A’ Size 12
Preshave: Hot Shower>Floris Gentleman p.shave oil
Soap: GFT Violet
Aftershave: Thayers rose toner (decanted into a vintage Avon bottle)>Niacinamide Serum>Lab Series defence lotion

First try of lord platinum in the Parker….

Nothing. No cut, no tug, nothing. I’ve had the same experience with Perma-sharp in this razor too. Eager to still try the blade for the first time whipped out the Bakelite tech and got on with the shave.

The NOS Maws brush was… well… cloudy? on its first lather. Made really light work of the hard Trumper soap, but no scritch or scrub with zero backbone. Just splayed straight out, and was nearly impossible to build a lather with.

2x cap riding WTG Passes, and a Little touch up under the chin. Felt like less neck “strap” of irritation than my recent shaves, but way too many variables to pinpoint what it might have been.
