Hi, I'm Justin from Texas. I've been shaving with a Merkur 34C DE razor and edging up with a Facon shavette. So, I ordered a vintage Amendola Special, German straight and sent it off for a restoration and a hone. My strop just came in 2 days ago (Fromm Illinois #206) and I got the razor back yesterday. I'm awaiting my first straight razor shave this weekend. I've also placed a $15 bid on a vintage Wade and Butcher so I'll have something for when I send one of them out for a hone. The first soap I tried is Proraso green, and it's done such a good job over the last 3 months that I am just barely receiving my first additional order of "Classicshaving" sandalwood soap just to try. I figure brushes and bowls are cheap enough to not need to invest a ton of money, as I use a cheap Amazon wooden bowl with grooves in it and a resin brush with a skull shape.
