Need some advice on a new razor

I'm eyeing a Dovo Pearlex 5/8.

Can someone either talk me into it, or talk me out of it?

I currently have a highly modified Gold Dollar, a 'fixed' Gold Dollar, and several vintage straight razors including a Wostenholm, a generic Solingen, a Diamond wedge, and one or two others.

Do you think it's worth spending $140 on the Pearlex considering my current collection? Is Dovo the brand to spend such money on, or should I look elsewhere? Any and all comments are encouraged.

Absolutely gorgeous, you will love seeing and using it every day! My wife always comments favorably on the razor too. I don't understand how these aren't selling for at least twice that price already. So my vote is Buy. :001_tt1:

If you want it get it. I myself have never been happy when I've had to settle for something less than I wanted. Dovo makes a decent razor, but don't expect it to be better than any of your others.

I have a 5/8 Pearlex. At first I guessed I must have bought it from Wid! So, I looked. I didn't. I bought it from Noah. I bought a 5/8 Evide Sonnant from Wid. Uffda. Both times 5/8's and good razors. But you sound like you have moved up to the 6/8 club like me with your gold dollars and the wedge hints at a 6/8 square point polished Hart by BG and then give it a rocking set of custom scales. Srs bznz. </thread>

I'd save up for that if I was you.

Let me goes this straight, you came here asking us to talk you out of buying a razor-HAHAHAHAHA

Caught! I was waiting for someone to catch that. I clearly don't want to be talked out of it, just wanted my internet companions to pressure me into spending more money, and it seems to have worked.

hmmm. my guess is you're looking for something different in cut and feel. do u own only carbon hollow blades, any steel 1/2 or 1/4 filled? try a heavier blade. not hollow

You know, you may be onto something here. I seem to gravitate towards the Gold Dollar blades because they're so much heavier than my others (and larger).

I may spend the extra $100 and look into a Hart blade. Or is there another, similarly priced option out there that someone can recommend?
