What's new

Need help with this U.S. Service Gillette set on hard case...

I just won an auction on Ebay, and I can't find any info on this set.
I just found some on other sets from WWII but in very bad condition, and with a Bakelite case.

Here're some pictures.

Note that plaque on the last picture is polished metal, and can be used as a mirror.

Once again, I have no clue the date of this set, nor the Razor itself.

I thought It might be interesting.
Thanks for your help.

(Also I got a nice Aristocrat... I think I've been bitten!)

The razor looks like an Old Type which puts the set (if correct) at the WW I vintage more so than WWII. Other than that, I'll leave it for experts.

Yep. It's a WWI set, alright. Check out this link, and it will show you all the different sets that were issued/available during WWI. I have the Khaki set myself. It's a nice piece of American military history...

yes- WWI set US Service set. It was never issued to soldiers, only to citizens. During WWII, people were able to purchase Bakelite sets.

Thank you guys for your help!!

I'll be waiting for the set, by the way that Khaki set looks really nice (and similar to mine...)

Thanks once again.

FWIW, the actual WWI military issue sets had the words "U.S. ARMY PROPERTY" rather than "MADE IN U.S.A.". I believe the bottom plate of the razor's head was marked that way too.

Yeah. I would LOOOOOOOVE to get an actual issued set, but that's near impossible.

Nice one guys!
Yeah I must say I was a lucky one today.
I knew it was special, although didn't know how much!

Thanks for your replies, and by the way, that brochure looks really nice.
Thanks for posting it.
