So I've been driving everyone at work insane with my tales of rich lathers and foreign scents. Well today a coworker hands me a vintage Gillette Super Adjustable still in the box. His father came across it cleaning out the garage. Was in an old camping box. Given my attachment is in the thread, any ideas how old this is? I currently use a Merkur 38C and was wondering what I could expect when trying out this old boy. Is the attack angle going to be different. Any advice on the setting I should use? And can I still use the included blades? Thanks gents!

Nice score! Unfortunately you won't be able to date until you open it up. The date code is inside the doors on this model. It has a black plastic bottom cap so it's between a 77 and 88. I've never used one so I cannot comment on the performance/charictaristics. Start witha low number like 3 and work up. If the blades don't have any sign of deterioration you should be able to use them. If its a Y4 and you'd be willing to trade or sell it, send me a PM.

It appears to have a black plastic adjuster plate and the later style diamond cut handle which would put it sometime between 1982 and 1988. If the handle has the earlier shiny lined handle it is between 1977 and 1982

If you're starting a collection, this is a nice way to start, but leave it unopened. In the sealed package, its a real score. Out of the package, its just another razor.
