Welcome to B&B! Your father did you a great favor leading your here. And, obviously, you've got a head start on many who come here in terms of knowledge and equipment.
As for fish in New York, might I recommend Foodtown? :lol1:

I don't have a funny description.
and maybe ways to upgrade my setup as I go?

I would advise you not to seek to upgrade that Merkur 34c. Other than being a most iconic design, it is a razor that fits beginners perfectly, and will keep being relevant for the rest of your life, probably, and in addition to that is an excellent standard to compare other razors to.
What I would advise to experiment with is with different kinds of soaps/creams and blades, of course. Feather might not be the best blade for a beginner, so you might want to order a blade sampler. And the main thing - put an emphasis on learning a good prep routine suitable for you. Study your hair growth pattern too, that's another key.

I’m an 18-year-old just getting started with wet shaving and super excited to be here! I’ve been fascinated by wet shaving for a while as my dad is a member here, but I recently stumbled across some videos about double edge shaving and got hooked. It looks fun and I’m ready to dive in.

I just was gifted my first setup: a Merkur 34C, some feather blades, a boar brush, and a container of Razor Rock Puros shave soap. I’ve only shaved a couple of times so far (still peach fuzzy), and I know I’ve got a lot to learn. Angle, pressure, lather—there’s so much more to this than I expected, but that makes it even cooler. I love learning from my dad but I enjoy exploring and learning on my own as well.

I’m here to soak up any advice you’re willing to share, especially tips for beginners and maybe ways to upgrade my setup as I go?
Looking forward to being part of this community and learning from everyone here. Thanks in advance for helping out a newbie!

I also love to fish and do so every day that I can. When i'm not fishing, i'm making lures and planning for the next fishing trip. If anyone has tips for NY fishing I would love to hear them. I've been fishing for almost 5 years now and don't plan to stop.

I am starting to get into fragrances as well. I currently have Jimmy Choo Man, Undiscovered by American Eagle, English Leather, and a classic, Drakar Noir. I like earthy, woody, citrusy, fresh, and subtle sweet fragrances.

Looking forward to learning and being a part of this community.
Hi Otter Head,

Welcome to B&B.

I am also new to both wet shaving and B&B, so I can’t offer much advice to you other than listen to the wealth of knowledge from the members here.

Best of luck with your shaving journey.
