Need a spare razor

Hi

I'm looking for a spare razor for travel etc because I'm going away for a few weeks and moving around rather than staying in the same place. I only own one razor (Gillette adjustable) and I don't really want to take it with me because it was my grandfather's and if I lost it....:crying:

What do you recommend?

It doesn't have to be an adjustable or a razor specifically designed for travel

Any three piece razor should do fine. They are pretty compact when disassembled.

What aggression level do you usually keep your adjustable set on? That may help to narrow it down.

Thanks for your reply
For my daily shave it is set to 3 and 5-6 if I've skipped a day, each with Feather blades.

A three piece is a non-twist open one isn't it?

Basically, yes. Here's a picture from the Shavenook that shows the difference between a "2-piece" razor and a 3-piece.

The razor on the left is a Merkur 34C HD "2-piece" and the one on the right is an EJ 89L 3-piece.
I think that EJ makes a great razor and the way it breaks down into smaller pieces makes it handy for travel, IMHO.

I too shave with a Gillette adjustable and I ended up buying an extra one (OK, maybe more than that) that I can use on travel. That way I don't have to worry about losing "my favorite razor" I took an old plastic 35mm film canister and cut a groove down the side so that I can slide it over the head and then put the cap on the end. It is exactly the right size, covers the head perfectly, and doesn't touch the blade.

There was a fellow on ebay, 2 weeks ago, that had the Travelong collapsing travel razors for ~ $9. I was pretty impressed, very solid for a stainless stamping.
