What's new

NASCAR's Denny Hamlin

I can recall seeing Denny Hamlin racing at Southside Speedway many years ago, I still have some old race night brochures with his name on them. Plus he grew up in the same area I am currently living, Midlothian Virginia.

Just 4 short years ago, he won Rookie of the Year, now I'm happy as hell to see him in the lead for this years NASCAR Sprint Cut championship. I hope he wins and takes it home today.

Go Denny!!

I'll represent the other end of the spectrum and say I hate that the little whiney wuss is leading the points, if he wasn't a drama queen I might could be excited for him.
Still, if he didn't drive a Toyota I'd say "at least it isn't Jimmie Johnson" :biggrin1:

but, neither of those contingencies matter, because my man is sitting in third ready to pounce :thumbup1:

(no disrespect to anyone as a fan...I started out liking him, afterall, he drives for Coach Gibbs. Unfortunately, Coach has had a problem picking drivers with attitude problems lately)

I really don't like Hamlin at all. I think he's a punk that whines about everything. Much like his teammate who I absolutely loathe. I'm not a Harvick fan either, but I loved seeing him put the 18 in the wall and then not apologize for it. Busch seemed like he was really racing the 48 and 29 hard to help Hamlin out. If somebody raced him like that he would have been going ballistic.

exactly, what was that talk the officials gave about no "team orders" or anything like that to help your teammate out?
Yeah, if it came down to the point of last laps and your teammate was behind you, I'd fully expect them to swap positions, that's fair to me. But to race so close to the 29 and 48 so as "if" an accident happened (and with 18 near, there's always an "accident", and it's never the 18's fault....) should have been called by NASCAR....if only NASCAR wasn't wanting the Toyota to win, they might have black-flagged him

I thought it was pretty clear he was racing them harder to help his teammate. Of course with him you never really know, he might start crying if somebody passes him for 12th on the 5th lap because they should have let him go since he was clearly the faster car.

Come on guys, this clearly was not the intent of this thread.

If you don't like Denny Hamlin, start your own damn thread! Don't go busting into mine, I sure as hell wouldn't do that to yours!

Sorry, wasn't trying to offend you, I thought the intent of the thread was to comment on him and/or the race. My apologies.

Denny is fine. I just wish he was not in a toyota. I find it hard to pull for him because of this. I really hate that JJ won again. I would have liked to see Hamlin win the cup just for the sake that he, in his own right, drove hard to get as far as he got this year. JJ has all the hype right now and Hendrick Motor Sports is putting all its cash into JJ and forgetting about the likes of Gordon (hate him, dont get me started) and Earnheart, who by right is probably one of the best drivers out there but just needs a car under him. Hamlin I think "deserved" it because of all the work that he put into the year. Maybe next year will be his time. Keep cheering him on!!!

I don't mind Hamlin at all...or Toyota for that matter. For all intents and purposes (idiomatically correct?), Toyota is an American brand at this point.

I for one, am glad to see Kyle Busch mature a little bit and shoot off at the mouth a little less.
