About two years ago I got an eBay double edge that came with a GOLD Gillette blade inside. It looked brand new. Was this some sort of NOS blade no longer in production?

Just by accident I saw this on eBay a few minutes ago. This is the blade. It looks great in gold and was produced sometime in the 40's. Antiques only.

There are a lot of blades that look like that...
Gillette does have date codes on the blades, too.

I got one of those gold-coloured 'Thin' blades with the Gillette New I bought not so long ago, except that mine was made in England. The blade hasn't rusted, not that I'm about to try it. I also found that they were made in the 1940s.
