My Vie Long Trio has arrived - pre bloom pics in here :

So I received my 3 Vie Longs.
The Fan in Oilve Wood is with a Flat Top in 3-Band Silvertip in 45 mm loft and 23 mm knot
The Red and clear plexiglas is a 2-Bander Silvertip in 54 mm loft and 24 mm knot
The Red and white plexiglas is a 3-bander Silvertip in 50 mm loft and 24 mm knot - the reason it looks like a 2-Bander is because Giftsandcare.com made a special order with a 7 mm shorter loft, thus Vie Long cut the lower half of the knot before they insert them in the handle and a 3-Bander now looks like a 2-Bander, ingenious right

Remember I face lather exclusively.......higher loft than 54 mm is a NO go for me !

They feel extremely soft but dense at the same time - all 3.

Notice what I write in the description next to the red/white marble one - it is a 3-Band Silvertip, but a special limited edition made for www.giftsandcare.com - they cut the original model 7 mm shorter in loft. The original has a loft of 57 mm and is made for a bowl latherer, thus giftsandcare asked if they could have one made in 3-band Silvertip for a face latherer and soap user. Result was that Vie Long cuts off 7 mm at the bottom of the knot, then insert the knot in the same handle as in the 57 mm loft version, and that makes it look like it is a 2-bander. It is still a 3-Band Silvertip, but with cut down to a 50 mm loft.
The only 2-Bander I bought from them is a the red and clear plexiglas model, it has a knot of 24 mm and a loft of 54 mm - I specifically went for a higher loft in the 2-Bander because Søren, SHM, told me the 2-bander Vie Long was a bit rough - but I think the newer Vie Long 2-bands are softer than the older batch, which Søren bought 2-3 years ago.

I will buy a 2-bander 23 mm knot 50 mm loft Vie Long 'Rover' model in ivory (TSN limited edition) and a Vie Long ButterScotch BeeHive Vie Long model from Bullgoose shaving, once Phil from Bullgoose receives the limited TSN brush in late November.....this will complete my Vie Long collection for now, I think - 5 Vie Longs seem like a good number IMHO

These are real classics..you will get decades of wonderful shaves with these fine Spanish brushes,plus the pride of ownership is a big plus as well !

I especially like the red and white handled one. I have the 13061 version, with dyed horsehair. Actually, I use that brush more often than any other brush. (Really, I don't have enough brushes yet!)

Thinking of pulling the trigger on one of the VieLong, just cant decide at what loft I want the 2-band. Interested to hear of your impressions. I have brushes at 22/48, 24/50 and they are already too large for my liking.
