What's new

My Ostisu Finedge finaly arrived today.

Well after waiting eagerly for just over 2 weeks, my Ostisu Finedge Xtra fine arrived today, and it really is a tiny thing, I weighed it and it went to 36 grams, for comparison, a Dovo 4580 Silver steel weighs 46 gram and a Gold Dollar 66 weighs in at 54 grams, so it really is Xtra fine, anyway it needed some attention, first disinfected it and then hit it with the Dremel and some abrasive cream to just take some grime off it, next taped it up, Norton 4K and 8K, followed by a slate, a Jnat, paddle board with 50K and 100K diamond dust and lastly on a leather strop, and now it is the lightest and sharpest razor I have. At a later date when I get some more time I will take the scales off, and repin it as well as spend a bit of time to put a good polish on it, just didn't want to spend too much time and effort on it before I found out if it would shave good. Forgot to mention, I took a very slight corner off the toe, that point was an accident just waiting to happen!

It does the hair test on my forearm like you wouldn't believe, but the real test will be tonight when I actually shave with it. :biggrin1: I hope that it wont disappoint me!

Nice! I can tell the hollow grind goes all the way up to the spine .

Yep, it does shave good, bit of getting used to, not having the weight there in the blade. I might see if i can pick up a heavier blade to compare them all.
