My next brush? help!

Greetings,

I am moving away from my VDH luxury starter set, already now using Mike's natural soap, it came with a badger brush, but could I do better if I spend $40-50? suggestions? I have no clue which one to look for.

Thanks!

For around $20.00 you can get a Semoque 1305 Boar Brush. Great brush and works excellent with soaps. I use mine with Williams and have never had a problem (once it broke in which didn't take long at all.)...It works great for me with both soaps and creams. I am a dedicated face latherer and it feels nice too.

Check the BST to buy and check the reviews section if your still unsure as to what will suit. A lot depands on how you lather.

I love my Semogue 1305, too. Even though it's one of my cheapest brushes, I reach for it often.

I would really take a close look through our BST section - you can get a huge return on your dollar on a good pre-owned Badger by doing so.

You want to look for a used:

Simpson
Rooney
Shavemac
Thater
Semogue
Savile Row

You can get some decent used custom brushes as well - I just picked up a restored Ever Ready 200T with a brand new TGN Silvertip Grade A knot which measures 24/51 for a whopping $30 shipped. For $30, it's hard to beat - the knot actually costs more than I paid for the whole brush...

If you're going to spend $50+ on a badger, I would tend to stick with a used "name brand" brush - if for no other reason, their resale value is always better and in my experience, a name brand just moves a lot quicker in the event you want to sell it.
