What's new

Brush ID. Help!

I found some good used stuff yesterday. Make me stop! I'm new, I have an excuse. It's this brush and stand.

I think it's badger, would be my first. 22/55/110mm. They both seem a little vintage, there's minor corrosion starting on the plating around the bottom and back of stand. The stand and brush may not match, the brush doesn't sit straight in there. The handle of the brush is quite nice. Fits well in the hand. It has a light oil or natural finish. Really nice grain in the wood, has a nice feel.

I couldn't find any images of a similar brush or stand. I searched all the brush manufacturers I could find that started with R, nothing. Perhaps the R is an initial of an owners name?

Thanks guys, let me know if any of this rings a bell.

Congratulations on your acquisition! Unfortunately, I’m not able to help with identifying the brush, just wanted to compliment you on your score. Please let us know how you like the brush after you use it. Glad you’ve joined B & B!

Have you tried a Google image search?

Yep. I ran both images through Google lens and nothing about the make or model comes up.

It can be an impressive tool, but not in this case. It even brought up a SOC butterscotch boar bristle brush. Haha.

Thanks guys for your interest.

I like that brush handle quite a bit. I'm intrigued now.

Yes, me too. I haven't used it yet but I've put it to my face. The handle has a surprisingly comfortable feel with that natural lathering hold.

There's a story, shortly: It was an estate sale in a one-bedroom apt. I bought from a nice woman, recently widowed. She seemed relieved to sell to someone who cared. There was a razor too. She told me her passed husband's name. So this is the Jared brush, bless him.

I think I'm going to use it now. I haven't done anything to it, I don't know if that's bad juju.
