What's new

My new silvertip travel brush

This is my new antler handled silvertip travel brush. I just finished it tonight. The razor is a NEW that my buddy's dad gave me yesterday. The brush is a 20mm knot with roughly a 47mm loft (my tape measure only measures in inches, so I had to extrapolate), and the handle is about 1 1/2" long...

i love it. how does the natural antler texture feel when lathering? do you get a pretty good grip or is it slick or............?

It actually gives a pretty good grip. This one is a slightly different texture than the first one, but with the bumps it should be fine. I'll probably try this one in a few days...

My wife thinks that I should put a few together to sell. Maybe this winter...

I've also got an elk rack I might consider making some handles from...

I used this brush for the first time this morning, and it worked wonderfully! I have a home-made travel soap, and this brush did a great job of building lather. It's definitely a keeper...

It didn't take much talent, actually. I mainly just took a piece of deer horn, a saw, a drill, the knot and some epoxy...

Doing it that way, it's pretty easy to make a nice brush...
