My Mod hat is off - post to the membership

Hey folks,
I was taking a moment to reflect on this contest thingy that has been going on - perhaps you've noticed? I have had some other commitments this month so I haven't been as involved as some of the other guys on the Mod team and that has given me some perspective.

So anyhoo, I was just taking a step back and thinking about how great this place is. I mean where else on the Internet are you going to see a bunch of Mods on a forum busting their humps to work with vendors to get great, and I mean truly great, prizes and distribute them to the membership. It has been pretty amazing to see the cornucopia of prizes coming from the contest wizard poo-bahs thanks to the generosity of the vendors who are working with the team. Awesome, simply awesome.

A big shout out to all the Mods and vendors who have been working this carnival!

Absolutely! This forum feels more like a private club than a website, and is more welcoming than most "real world" social venues. I have been lucky enough to win a great kit from Gentlemen's Best, and it couldn't have happened without the great team of MODs and vendors here! Hell, even my girlfriend expresses her wonder at the things that go on here when I am excitedly telling her about the latest thing at B&B!

This is the best forum and chat that I have used period. The people here are friendly, want to help and when you ask a question you get honest answers. I am so use to replies such as "RTFM, or are you stupid, etc from many computer forums. I have always been told that if you do not know an answer to something...ask. I really like the fact that we are so friendly and helpful here. This is the best forum I have ever used.

I agree. The mods here do a tremendous job, and the generosity of the vendors supporting this site is staggering. That said, this was the best forum on the net long before the carnival, and it will continue that excellence long after the carnival is over.

I agree about the gentleman's club feeling. Sure there are times when folks will step out of line but it's an exception rather than the norm and quickly sorted out. There is a real sense that folks are poised over their keyboards just waiting to help wherever and whenever they are needed. The overall sense of goodwill is almost palatable(or is it all this wool fat and bay rum I can taste?) and I always sign out feeling better than when I signed in. Long may it continue.

As far as free shiny stuff, I know of no other site. I've never seen anything like this. I know of one other that is at least as tight as this as far as community, and probably tighter as far as exchange of knowledge and goods between the actual members. Very nearly no moderation, unless you really really have it coming, which makes it lively. Not for everybody, to be sure. But this is a very cool site.

Edit:I would like to change my statement about the other site to state that they are superior to the actual in-person fellowship on here. I know I'm new here, but I have a hard time believing that people travel literally from the other side of the world to get together and talk shaving, specifically for that get together. I've seen it in person with the site I have in mind.

Have been on the internet since the early/mid 90s and been a member of many forums.

This is the most gentlemanly and congenial forum I've ever been a member of ( and I've only been a member here about 6 months )

No other forum would say " Donate to this cause" and I would

It is a credit to the creators, mods, members and the vendors that support it.
