What's new

My lovely wife is full of surprises -or- knock me over with a feather

My wife has been shaving with a '68 Lady Gillette the past few months, so nothing seemed out of the ordinary when she grabbed her shaving kit and headed for the 'tub. She's been using and been getting great results from the same Shark Superchromes that have become my goto DE blade of choice.

I went in to check on my little angel about 10 minutes into her bath, and there she was. Beautiful as I've ever seen her, shaving away with a discarded Feather (!) blade wrapper sitting beside her. "Hey, love of my life!" I stammered. "Did you decide to try a different blade tonight"? She explained that the Shark 5 pack that I gave her had run out and rather than bother me about it, grabbed the first pack she found- out of a pile of around 20 different blade types- the Feathers! (I tried to love them but can't. Great hair reduction, but too much irritation for my taste.)

She had the best shave yet with them, no irritation, and is patiently waiting for me to buy her a 100 pack.

'68 Lady Gillette- $30
100 pack of Feather blades- $45ish
Discovering your delicate flower is a more hardcore DE shaver than you are- priceless!

What the lady wants, the lady gets.
The '68 is sunk cost.
The Feather blades will provide her and you at least 100 maybe a whole year of shaves.
$0.45 down to maybe $0.13 a day is a very inexpensive price for happiness.
Buy the Feathers!

Oh yes! Simple mathematics. The lady gets 'em for sure. A small investment for much future happiness (and smooth legs too!)

Hah! Just you wait until the bloom is off the rose...

My bride and I celebrated our 16th anniversary on July 1st. Yesterday she presents herself, towel wrapped and holding a Blue Lady by the ball end, silo doors open so it's obvious that it's empty. My mind flashes back to all the young officers I saw turning in pistols...

"I'm out. Fix it."

"Well, darling, you slide the blade off the dispenser and then..."

"I know that, Mr. Clown. I'm out of blades, and don't you try pawning off the cheapos on me. Again."

"OK, I'll reload your dispenser with Sharks. For now I'll just give you one for the razor."

"Thanks. You aren't on the internet buying shaving stuff, are you? Just because I ran out of blades isn't carte blanche for you to buy some goofy stuff we don't need...Why are you looking at Avon stuff now?...Hey, you aren't thinking of putting those crazy sculpture bottles where somebody could SEE them?"

"I blame DonOhio, dearest."

"Well, you can move to DonOhio if you buy any of those things. We don't need Lincoln in our bathroom."

"Yes, dear."

But when her back is turned, the "Buy It Now!" button is irresistible....

Thank you Topgumby, that made my day!

My 10 month old daughter has been suffering from bronchitis and the other day whilst I was doing some casual stropping my SWMBO said:

"Darling can you go down and fetch the saline for the inhaler, Matilda is wheezing again!"

So I was on my way down to the kitchen and then she said: "Never mind, it seems to have subsided."

I then went back to the bathroom and started stropping again. A short while later she came in to brush her teeth and exclaimed: "So that is what that wheezing sound was!"

SWMBO took it on herself to try my Merkur one day last week, and had a Lady Gillette and her own Mama Bear's order within 2 days. Best part is she's still learning so she elicits help with lather making, proper angles, etc. It's a fun "hobby" for couples. And nothing's better than finishing your shave and having SWMBO run her hand over your face to check your work and you get the "Wow!" of approval!

 I was told off the other day for only doing one pass on her legs! Said hey you do multi pass do mine WTG and ATG check her out.

Crap. Busted. Again. Sounds like a conversation that my lovely wife of 10 years would say to me. Not about DE blades at the moment, but just in general. (At least I get to shop every couple of months or so. Next time, I think I'll pick up Speick.)

What I mean is, um, congratulations on scoring a great wife! (What's that? Yes, dear) Sorry, gtg. :tongue_sm

This thread made my day. I am sitting in my office laughing out loud.... I guess I need to get my wife to try a DE out!

My wife is afraid of my DE razors and keeps calling them "straight" razors. I keep telling her its a "safety" razor. I have 2 tubs of Trumpers Coconut, a 23C, and a Parker 82R laying around and she still wants to use that GD plastic thing with the soap around the cart. FMWR

Yeah!!:thumbup1:

Its a lot easier to hide the new T&H 1/3 brush I ordered last night from Truefitt&Hill (about $87 with the BB discount) than it will be the dozen Greenhead Lifesize Pro Grade goose decoys I ordered from Cabelas (about 4x the cost of the brush).

That's it. Get Cabelas to send you a catalog and leave it laying around the house for a few days, with the first page for duck and goose decoys dog eared. Then tell her "Honey I been thinking about hunting, for recreational sport, but I don't know". Kinda gets the whole "cost of my shaving hobby" into prospective.

Oh, and if anyone asks, No you can't have to many decoys, or shaving brushes.

Sounds like a keeper. Im trying to talk my wife into getting a Lady Gillette but she uses the female version of the Mach3.

where can you get a 100 pack for 50 bucks? I've gone through my wcs sampler and it's official, feather's agree with me better and more durably than all the rest. Where can I order some on the cheap?

If you go to the vendor forum there are several threads with 100 Feather blades for $30ish. Some are threw ebay, some are just sold by the vendors there. Its a good deal if you take a minuet to look threw the listings.
