My last three restores

Here are three that I just finished.

This is a Made Rite 1200, with a TGN 24mm Silvertip set at 55mm

This is a no name handle, but in a gorgeous tortise. It's a 22mm TGN Pure, at 56mm.

Last one is a Fuller with a 24mm TGN Black Badger, at 52mm.

Did you have to open up the handles on any of them to fit the knots? I find many of the old handles take smaller knots.

Yes, I did. I often open up the handles, because I prefer larger knots. I have a system that works quite well--I simply use my dremel with a sanding drum, take my time, and open up the holes. Then I flat sand the top of the hole and reshape it, then use wet/dry sandpaper in varying grits to get the opening to look right.

Do you ever use TGN Finest? it's a fine knot, IMHO.

I have done a few with TGN's finest, and several in fans. I have used all of the TGN knots. Honestly, I like a variety in my restores. Believe it or not, the pures are really nice, and the black badgers as well--lots of backbone and scritch. My favorites are the super soft silvertips and finest, though.

Very cool, I did that same Fuller handle only in TGN's best badger short knot. It instantly became my favorite brush. Very cool work!
