What's new

My Humble Collection...

This is more for my own records rather than another reason.... :001_tt2:
( actually I was just thinking about insurance too as I type this ).

Here's my humble collection. The thing the I'm proud of is that 90% of the DEs have been found locally. Not bad for a small island with less than 500,000 people, and I haven't actually gone too far afield so there's still potential finds out there. Just shows that persistence and ADs will win out in the end. :001_smile

All my "important" ones have the correct boxes.

I think my ADs are subsiding and any razors I don't want that I find are now being purchased and passed onto other Aus members @ cost in a Fidjit Razor Rescue Mission, I'd rather buy and pass on to someone who would appreciate. :001_rolle

Brit Aristocrat #16, Brit Aristocrat #16, Brit Aristocrat #21, Brit New Bostonian
Brit #58, Brit Rocket HD, Brit Parat, Brit New , Gem 1912, I2 Slim
Vintage Merkur Slant, Brit Tech #44, Oleander Straight, Genco Straight, Gotta Straight, G2 Fatboy
Gem Micromatic, Brit Rocket, T1 Knack, I3 Slim, F1 Fatboy, F2 Fatboy

My initial vintage SBAD has diminished too.
Top to bottom: Fuller TGN 20mm Finest 48mm loft, Omega 21047, Vintage Vulfix Hyde Park original bristle, Vintage Everready 200 TGN 20mm Silvertip 50mm loft, Vintage Kent KS7 TGN 20mm Finest 48mm loft.

I really did mean to pull out all my soaps, balms, blades etc... but figured that part was too scary :001_tt2:

I really must find a way to display them as at the moment most of them just sit under the sink and in various drawers.

Not too bad for less than a years work ( but obviously not as obsessive as some :001_tt2: )

That's a very nice, and impressive collection. Congrats!
It is pretty impressive that you got some of them locally.
I've been in Hobart and the surrounding areas, and I think it's one of the most beautiful places on Gods green earth.

I gotta ask you though, what is it that all your stuff is sitting on?
I love that pattern, and think it would make a great duvet.

Phil,

Yes indeed Hobart is indeed God's own country. Ya can have ya big cities, but they ain't for me. :001_smile

Yes 90% local finds is good that's probably what I'm proudest of I think :001_smile

Almost a year of dropping ( sometimes multiple times ) into EVERY antique shop, opp shop, second hand shop in Hobart and surrounds ( as well as phoning others ). I do have couple of shops that I've got the majority of them from. Can't tell you where or what sort of shop as that would be giving it away.........and I won't tell you how much (little :001_tt2:) the collection has cost me.

I must admit though that some of the places must have caught onto me, prices are gradually going up ( though they're still a bargain ). While there's no other Hobart B&B members, I know there's some other people buying them as the stuff I leave does tend to disappear after a while.

The material is the current table cloth on our dining table :001_tt2:

Nice collection! :thumbup1:

Those British Aristocrats are beautiful. Do you use all of them?

Yep , I'm not a display collector ( though I should ), I've shaved with all the razors at least twice. None of the finds have been NOS, though I'm not sure that the cased Fatboy has ever been used. My favourites are #16, #58 and the Rocket HD :thumbup:;

My collection of rockets has a ways to go to catch up, still looking for a #58 rocket, I just can't seem to get my hands on one.:crying:

Ian, you have a really nice collection. You were selective and ended up with some very nice sets. I also like the diversity in your pieces from Aristocrats to adjustables to straights. I have one recommendation for another piece, a nice Single Ring in the leather over wood case. It might be hard for you to find one locally though.

Looks great and the brush are assume as well. very nice!

I think I remember seeing the Butterscotch brush in a SOTD

Great collection! Those Brit Aristocrats are the best DE's out there in my opinion. Most precise and perfect function and smoothest shaves.
