My Guess... 3017

I had a an ephiney last night. I was not looking forward to today's shave. I was working on IB Amici I like the scent, but the performance is just ok. I decided that just ok is not good enough for me. I realized life is short and why put up with just ok. From now on I want good or great shaves. So I tossed the IB Amici and decidedly to start on my tub of Cella today. It was a good shave the best soap I have used so far. The lather was slick and creamy. The post shave was good my favefelt doftand moisterized. From now on a soap/cream has to give me good to great shaves or it gets tossed!

Fine Lavender is going quickly now in the last 1/4 of the puck. When I started this puck mid-April I thought it would carry me through end of July. It won't make it nearly that far.

I have been using some creams as of late, but Tuesday I rejoined the 3017 train by starting B&M 42. This is the first B&M soap I have used from the main line ( I have only used the Latha line before ). First impression: Wow! This soap makes a very rich, creamy, protective lather. Even on the first shave when I didn't get the lather right it gave me a great shave ( better than any of the cream shaves ). I think I will really enjoy this soap.

Looks like I might be able to squeeze out another day, maybe two, from the RED Bergamotto Neroli. Looking at an old tub of Razorock Mentha. Haven't looked to see if this is still in production. This tub must be 3 or 4 years old at a minimum!

I've got a pretty good donut going with my Nuavia Verde. Provided I shave every day, I'm thinking it should be done by July. Considering I thought I'd be done by June, I'm impressed that Nuavia has lasted as long as it has with the amount of soap I thought I was loading.

Checking in as I haven't done so in a while.

Gents, I've gone a bit backwards...I've been shaving every other day for the most part. I had some irritation that just kept getting worse and worse on the neck, so shaving less seems to have helped clear it up. Also while my whiskers grow quickly a day of stubble doesn't look too bad.

Shaves with the TOBS Eton College have been good, not excellent. Moving to every other day shaving has helped as my skin is less raw, otherwise I was missing something, maybe cushion, maybe slickness. The scent is nice but a bit strong still. I'm not really keeping track of shaves either but I'll try to estimate when I'm done.

What else...I have dabbled with the occasional other soap or cream but not often. With a little more stubble, I used a stick of Irisch Moos which was really great. So maybe my next soap will be a stick of Palmolive or Speick or something. I'm probably overdue for Haslinger though.

Lastly, I am really loving my little 18mm Rudy Vey Finest. It's completely overtaken my Shavemacs for usage. Typically I'm just doing a single pass plus touch-ups, and this hybrid shaped knot makes lather quickly, the lower density has great flow and allows the tips to remain soft, and the 2-band gives enough backbone for a massage. I'm really considering another smaller brush, maybe a 20mm silvertip of some kind, although I also probably need to downsize again!

@Jarick, good to hear from you. I too have started shaving mostly every other day. My face thanks me. I have a stick of Palmolive and a stick of SIM, both unopened. Sticks work best with a day of stubble, I might hit a puck of Haslinger next, then this fall roll with the Palmolive shave stick.

Still 'just shaving', same routine as the previous year or so.

Using my FB during the week and Hawk to clean up my weekend stubble. Because I cycle to work, I am night shaving, 2 pass (WTG/ATG) with a FB and Astra on 4.

Finished the lovely tallow AOS lemon a while back, followed it up with Haslinger Aloe and am on to another puck of Aloe. Haslinger is still tops, even better than vintage AOS and am happy to say, I have zero temptation to try any soap or cream on the market. Haslinger is hands down, the greatest soap I have tried.

Using my Disco Paladin PK-47 as my main brush, Lucky Tiger tonic and then Lucky Tiger balm (after using my my Myrsol Emulsion) as my other products.

Take care.

@Jarick @brucered hope you're summer is going well. I'm really looking forward to getting back to Haslinger. I have to say that after this year all remaining products in my den will be top tier performers. I'm done cycling through average stuff.

Oddly, all of my top products are "commercial", no artisans made the final cut.

Cheers gentlemen!

I got moves like Jagger
I'm now a month in on my P.160 Tipo Morbido. Shaves are doing great and both the scent and performance of this wonderful soap are living up to expectations. I've even taken some out of the container and stickified it for if/when I have to travel.

My "Guess how long it will last" PIF is still open for folks to see if they can figure out how long it will take me to use all 650g of this puppy.

Indeed, it does. I also have a wood one, also from Mama Bears, but I like this one more.

Very nice. I blew my sabbatical so I am free to look around. I'm going to be driving by mama bears store later this summer, we have friends that have a lake cabin near the town in Wisconsin mama bear is in. I stop at her shop when visiting and I might get pick up one of those dishes.

Checking in myself...

I increased my usage of Coates and it has gotten a bit better yet. Really liking this cream.

TFS finished yesterday. I have no complaints about it, and if I didn't have several years of soap waiting would replace it. Ended up with 49 shaves using 61 grams, so usage not far from my usual. Probably could have stretched it farther if I had been careful when loading the brush.

Started Razorock Mentolipto today. This tub of soft soap is over 5 years old, so the scent and cooling sensation are both very faint. The lather, as expected was great, and the shave, even with a 7 day old Van der Hagen blade was smooth and free from irritation! Looking forward to a good summer!

Checking in too.

Finished the mwf at the start of June. I'm happy because with its demise I'm down to my last soap. It isn't such an awesome feat as some of you guys as I never had a huge stash to begin with, but as a 3017er, it feels good.

I'm currently using a Spieck stick. I remeber putting this in my top 3 last time I used it, but I just can't get along with it this time. I've bought a tube of Proraso blue, never tried a Proraso cream before, and am considering binning the Spieck. Just not sure I can bring myself to do it.

You may find that the Speick stick will improve if you wet it before and after shaving. Older soaps tend to dehydrate a little making them more difficult to lather but once they are returned to use normally come back to exhibit their previous goodness.

I very unexpectedly saw the bottom of the dish after today's shave. As others suggested, the Fine soap has taken on Tabacs cream like consistency as it nears the end. Besides over hydration, it doesn't help that I had grated the puck and put it in a 4" diameter dish. I've also been using a 26mm brush. I have been overloading unintentionally.

May only have a week or so left on this one. I'm starting to ponder the next 3017 effort. I've been missing Haslinger like crazy.....
