My Guess... 3017

Face lathered with my Thater 2-band today and the Maca Root. Had a good, if dry, first two passes. Decided to add a bit of water and work on the face for the third pass. Initially looked like a foamy mess, then a nice creamy lather, and super smooth shave. I should do that more often.

Getting down there on the Maca Root. A few more weeks maybe.

How many shaves have you got with it so far? Just wondering because I have an almost new tub in my den.

I started on Halloween, skipped a few days, maybe had a few extra lathers, so dates should be close. 53 shaves so far, so I would guess maybe 70-75 total? I didn't pay attention to how much I loaded, which was fairly heavy, as it's a super soft cream. Still, I'm using about half as much product as the SCS Pumpkin which was over 4 grams per shave.

I will say the Maca Root is at least as good as anything else you find in local shops. It's not as good as TOBS which is the high mark for creams for me, but it's a world better than Kiss My Face and on par with CO Bigelow (Proraso).

My stirling pumpkin pie is finally dead. Turns out it only had one more shave and even that was difficult because it was a pain to load the soap from the small crescent shaped remnant in my bowl. This chunk was started on 10/1 and went through ~25 shaves over the past 2.5+ months (a few days with Palmolive while working through a bathroom remodel). Overall it is a decent soap which resulted in decent shaves but I will not purchase again.

My next shave will be on Christmas day, so I will need to figure out what to use. Break out my AOS (tallow) sandalwood? MdC? QCS? MW? Mikes? B&M?

Done with I Colonalli. No, I didn't finish it off, but the last shave I got a little tingle. Today it lit my up bad! Super red, blotchy and burning face.

Need to figure out what's next. Xmas day will be the vintage Yardley I picked up from Heath.

My Blue Willy is no more :sob: (see my pic from yesterday). On deck for tomorrow's shave is Dr Dittmar. This was the package of soap flakes, which I have puckified and been hydrating for the past week or so.

I'm very interested to hear your opinions of XPEC, Patrick.
Well, I had a shave with it just now and I have to say, it's pretty good. The lather was thick and creamy and it had good slickness and cushion. There seems to be a slight hint of menthol in it, which was nice. The scent is great. I don't really know how to explain it other than to say it's a great old school scent. I will end up getting another shave with it tomorrow, so hopefully it will be just as enjoyable as today's was.

Prepping for this morning's C&E Sandalwood shave. It's a decent soap, and I enjoy the scent the rest of the day. I was doing it wrong the first go around.

Skipped Maca Root to try Martin de Candre today. Used my Plisson synthetic (seemed like a natural thing to use a French brush...well Chinese probably stamped with a French name on it). I didn't load enough at first so went back to the jar and had a TON of lather. Dense and slick. Had an excellent shave. Great stuff.

Taking a break from my never-ending puck of Scottish Fine Soap to finish the year out with the last of my Christmas-in-Tuscany. I will resume after the CIT is gone (it should only last a couple of weeks).

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Another excellent Shafmilch shave this morning. I lost count of how many shaves I have on this puck because I skipped shaving a few days and also used some Mikes a few days just to compare. Best guess I am about 25 shaves in. Ive been using a Marvy rubber mug and Omega 10098 big pro with the barbershop handle. Its an old well broken in boar that I use from time to time. It works well with the Marvy mug because you can easily reach into the bottom of the mug without banging the handle against the sides all the time. Its a nice set up for shower shaving. The schafmilch...well....just excellent.

Still going with the combined samples of Strop Shoppe, maybe 2 shaves left though. Started Dec 16. I mostly use a soap killer brush though, an Omega 10098.
