As a London resident for 25 years I can confirm that our hard water does indeed humble good soaps. However, that does mean when we rave about a soap it's probably a really good one
@Trollky thank you for the feedback. I guess I am spoiled with the soft water at home. I will be testing the Tabac at a few Asian and European locations this year. On a positive note it seems like the puck has stopped gaining weight and is being consumed at a smidge more than 0.25 grams per shave.
It's funny what one gets used to. Although lathering can require more work in a hard water area, the post shave rinse is really easy. Whenever I visit a soft water area it seems to take forever to rinse my face!

My partial tube of Nivea cream finished today and provided just about a month of very nice shaves. Up next is a near-full tube of Musgo Real Lavender cream. This should be fun!

Long time since I’ve checked in. I forgot to take a razor on vacation and ended up growing a beard out for most of last year. But when the beard started bothering me a month or so ago I dove right back into the tub of veggie Jabonman lime and spices I’d been working on before. A true 3017 just with a beard break for a while. The soap was good but I’d opt for his tallow version 10 out of 10 times if given the choice. If you prefer veggie options for whatever reason Jabonman is a worthy consideration. Scent reminded me of lime bay rum and was enjoyable.

decided to try to kill this little sample…
Hairgum Barbershop started out well for me, easy to load.. OK scent and good enough lather. Lather was stable but not much slickness in it or anything special for that matter.
Last few shaves, after the puck got even smaller (it was small to begin with - 17.2g), I had to load for minutes upon minutes all while chasing it around the bowl.
Lather became subpar and the shave followed.
Even though it is not entirely finished, today is my last shave with it. Next will be Tabula Rasa Abraka Barber 90g.
On paper it should be a better experience.

Should be a very good cream! I’m wondering how the scent compares to Lavanda. Have you tried that cream?
I have not, but the Musgo Real scent is awesome and just like when I crush our garden's lavender between my fingers!
Nice! Sounds like the AOS and CF Lavender scents. Lavanda smells more like dried European lavender to me, rather than our fresh garden lavender. I don’t know how I have missed smelling the Musgo Real lavender cream. I’m sure I’ve had a whiff of the other MR creams.
Those little MdC samples from Maggards are deceiving. I think mine lasted a few weeks. BTW, if you like rose scented soaps and creams, you have one of the very best there. Enjoy!
I’ve had it quite a while now already. I like it but wondering if it’s worth the premium over DR Harris. Loaded it is a right pain. I can only do it well now with the wee Scot and Case.
I scooped some out of the container and pressed it into a lather bowl.
The end is near! The soap should be finish this month.
All in all not disappointing. Not as slick as other soaps but do the job. To me it is a nice winter soap.

...but this one IS cracked.
The EJ broke up tonight almost as soon as I started lathering so it took ages to get a lather going. What is left is not worth using on its own so I am calling the EJ Aloe Vera done and I will tip the beans into my next 3017 TFS Rasozero Barbaccio.
The EJ soaps are not bad, but they are not the slickest around. They can be a little finicky about the amount of water you use and you can easily use too much or too little. I have found it is best with this soap to really load it and if necessary add water a drop at a time to get the right consistency. All in all a decent soap, but not one I will be replacing.
Finally to the donut stage on this forever sample of MdC.
I think I have one more shave in the MdC sample but I’m going to save it for MdC Monday. Now to decide from Cella green and GFT Limes cream I have out or thought about St James Lavender & Geranium I’ve had for a bit.
After finding this thread, I made the decision to see if I could finish up my soaps…

Broke the donut this morning and suffered to get a good lather as a result.
