My Czech and Speake samples arrived!!

Wow, finally they are here!! After I asked for them in the end of March and never got them, I send them an e-mail and was informed that the first set was send out in April, but never made it to me. They promised me to send another set out. I got them today: a total of 9 (nine) small sample vials, got for about two applications. Now, I am looking forward to try them all out.

I got mine today also. High quality stuff. The packaging is awesome and I like the little handwritten note. They want my business and they're going to get it. Their juice is killer.

Got mine today and very nicely presented. I had a bottle of Cuba once before and thought it too harsh. Well, today, I just put all the samples of juice into a pile, closed my eyes, and picked one. Cuba. Today though, this cologne rocks. You get tobacco and citrus, green leaf and bay rum. Notes that are discordant, like the Beatles' A Day in the Life, but yet, it all blends. This is macho in a bottle and I can see why some ladies like it. Not an in your face, but imagine the Latino dancer on the floor, nice abs, shirt unbuttoned to the middle. Does not have to wear the gold chain, or have tons of chest hair, but a quiet machisimo. Not your buttoned-up nine to five suit and tie guy. This is Cuba.

From quick sniffs, Citrus Paridisi and Neroli really seem interesting. Dark Rose reminds me of Montale Black Aoud, more so than 88. Wife is gonna try regular Rose and Mimosa. Frankicense and Myrrh is the one I really wanted to try and quick sniff, I was not overly impressed. The CP and Neroli though might have possibilities for an awesome summer scent.

I got the sampler pack from Czech and Speake. #88 is a bit too something on me. I had worn Cuba once before, but out of the sampler pack, wow, I fell in love with it. Tobacco, rum, a little mint, a little citrus. I can see this as a smokey filled night club, mojito spilt on me, a bit of sweat from the dancing, an viola, your latin lover awaits.

Some of the others were nice, like Oxford and Cambridge. Citrus Paradisi was for me one of the best citrus scents I have smelled. Some are too lemony, either like furniture polish or very tart, but CP was very nice. A little more tenatious than Acqua di Parma Colonia.

I have two left that I liked on first sniff, Neroli and Frankicense and Myrrh.

But the real suprise was Dark Rose. On initial application, I felt it was Black Aoud done light. Not as heavy on the rose, not as heavy on the aoud. About the same rose as BA, since I have tried Attar and Rose Petals and know the difference. About three hours in, I read a couple of reviews and someone said fruitiness. I tried to sniff it out, and I felt that maybe, if you stuck your nose to the scent for 5 minutes you could fool yourself into thinking fruit, but I really felt it was Black Auod, less intense. Good thing, I have half the vial left, because I am going to test it one evening to see if it is full bottle worthy.

I have to get another sample of Cuba. Anyone got an extra?

You can get a decant of Cuba and O&C from Rorschuck's decant operation. I got an oz. of the Cuba from him myownself. Gonna get another.

Need to try the Dark Rose.

Mine came, too. What jumped out at me was the Dark Rose. I had never considered it simply due to its feminine designation. I really like it anyway.

From what I sniffed and used so far, I was quite impressed! The #88 and the Frankincense and Myrrh is already gone - ordered some of the #88 and my next purchase from them might be the F+M. The Dark Rose is also a very interesting scent. Personally, the O+C was not on top of my liking, but this vial arrived nearly empty, so not too much to apply and test. All in all I would say that I like C+S much better than Pen's stuff - Pen's cannot even compare to C+S.
From the three samples of the Penhaligon's I had, I was pretty unimpressed with them - but then, that's only me and others may differ.

I like Pen's but their scents just do not like to stay with me except for Endymion. I get some pretty good lasting power from Endy but their other scents that I've tried, though very quality, just do not last on me.

I also recently received the samples several months after I made my request, but since they are sent without charge and beautifully presented it would be very ungracious to complain. The wait was worth it. This is really high quality juice and I will be purchasing several starting with Neroli.

The samples I received have caused me to re-order my "to buy" list -- WOW! I love them all, but will start with No.88. Really clear, no-nonsense sorts of scents (say that three times fast )
