Just a few mins ago was my 4th time DE/Wetshaving. My first time was good. My 2nd and 3rd time were decent. But this time was my best yet. It may have been because of a few things I did differently this time.
First off, I am using EJ89 with Astras. I have a pack of feathers I might try next time since I have the form down.
My first two times, I don't think my blade angle was all that proper. But I haven't cut myself or even get much little nicks during those first 3 tries over the past week. This time, I think my blade angle was where it should be and I made sure to focus and take my time, and be consistent with the angle.
But, I think there was some other things I did that played a big role in my best shave yet. When I was showering, I rubbed hair conditioner in my face and let it sit there for a few mins while I was lathering my bowl. Oh, I was using RazoRock Coacao soap/cream. After I rinsed the conditioner off my face and was done with my shower, I finished the lather. I didn't use all that much water this time. Just what was on my brush after soaking it and then shaking some of it off.
I then got my brush and just quickly grazed over my face. I set the brush down and then worked the shave soap into my face like it was a lotion (i think this helped ALOT) after I did that all over, I then picked my brush back up and began to lather up my face. I did a three pass shave. Still struggling with going against the grain on my lip/stache area. But, everywhere else I did wtg, across and atg with unbelievable ease. Not cuts or little nicks.
I rinsed my face off with cold water, applied some witch hazel and then some nivea aftershave balm. Never been so smooth all across my face. Usually my chin and stache area are shadowed and stubbly. Even though I wasn't able to go against the grain on my stache, the two pass shave on it got it all off.
Just thought I would share.
Cliffs:
-hot shower
-rubbed hair conditioner into face and let sit.
-rubbed lather into my face with my hands like it was lotion
-then applied shaving soap with brush like usual
-cold water rinse, witch hazel and then some after shave balm.
