Muhle Silvertip Fibre 2.0 Version

I'm wondering how much different the Muhle Fibre 2.0 is from the 1st generation.

1) Does it retain water better?
2) Does it more or less backbone?
3) Is the loft of the brush higher or lower?

The brush I'm looking at is the 21mm.

Anyways, I'm curious because I've heard great things about the 1st generation, and I'm wondering if the 2.0 is really an improvement.

To answer your questions:

1) Yes
2) Yes
3) Shorter because the fibers are thinner

I have a full set of the new V2 brushes, and the 21mm is mt favorite, with the 23mm close behind. You can find reviews of the V2 brushes here on B&B and on other sites. The V2 brushes are widely regarded as the very best synthetics on the market right now.

Okay, so the answer to #2. It has more backbone? I want a brush with good backbone to rip up soaps.

I use MWF as well as some glycerin soaps and the 21mm will definitely be to your liking. It would be hard to find better. You'll be very happy!

BTW, the density of the V2 brushes is significantly improved, too, because the thinner fibers allow more to be packed into a given knot size.

Jim, is ordering directly from Muhle the only way you can be assured of getting a V2 brush?

I just purchased mine from connaughtshaving.com

The 21mm are for sure V2. The other ones are not specified that way. Connaught is the cheapest way you'll get one of these brushes.

I have been very happy with the 19mm I got from Jim. Nice brush and one that anyone would be happy to use. I bought this one to be primarily a travel brush to be used with shave sticks. They dry faster than a natural hair/bristle brush does.
