Muhle R89

I have an EJ 89...same head as the Muhle 89....similar handle. I think its a great razor, it is very smooth, and with the proper respect one should give any razor, it provides for some excellent shaves! If you are looking to get one, check out the EJ 89's they will run you about half the cost of a Muhle.

I have the Muhle and it is a good razor. The advice on the EJ is correct. Have no idea why they are priced cheaper but they are. Good luck.

I have the ivory handled Edwin Jagger and it's the best razor I have, including my Fat Boys and Merkurs! You can't go wrong.

It's wonderfull for sensitive skin (use with Derby blades)!!! until now, i only used it with proraso and it's amazing!no irritations, cuts and other problems.go for it!

I agree, it is an excellent razor. I have the Muhle, and also found it works best with Derby blades. It has become my favourite razor.

Good luck and enjoy!

I have the R89, it's a great razor.

They may be out there, but I have not seen any negative reviews of it yet.

I love my R89. Some call it head heavy, which I guess it is. But for me it is the perfect balance. I have not tried an EJ.

Its about personal taste, if you want to save money and can live with the Jagger design, it makes more sense. If you like the design of the Muhle better, then thats the way to go.

Fantastic razor. I have the Muhle and EJ and the Muhle is by far the better razor, well worth the extra. The handle on the EJ is soild and I find it tail heavy, whilst the Muhle has a hollow handle which counter-blances the head perfectly. YMMV.

How is the R89 on the aggressiveness end?

The R89 is an extremely gentle shaver. About on par with a Gillette Tech, if you've used one of those. I find to be nearly a perfect razor.

The R89 is on the mild side, yes. But on par with a Tech? YMMV and all but the Tech has totally different (cutting-) angles because a.o. the blade is much less curved than in the R89. Blade exposure is more in the Mühle as well; though not the same I think it is closer to the Merkur Classics in how it shaves.

For me at least the Tech and Mühle are in another category; the Tech is too mild for an easy shave and the Mühle is pretty much spot on.
