Muhle R89 Twist Replacement Head

I have the Muhle R89 Twist. So the baseplate is attached to the handle. I moved and apparently lost the top plate. I've seen online I can buy the top plate but I'm worried about fit? Not an expert by any means. Is the top plate the same for the twist as well as the standard model?

Thanks!

You can email them and see what they say. But my guess is you may have to buy another whole unit. Always ask the manufacture, some may surprise you.

From the pictures, it looks like the twist model's top cap uses a longer thread than the standard model, but I could be wrong. I would contact them via their web site and get confirmation. Let us know in this thread once you find out, as this is good information for others who might have the same question.

So I actually found on the Muhle Canada site (where I am) that it doesn't not work with the twist. I emailed them asking if it's possible to get the head for the twist. If not that's disappointing

Unfortunately the head on the twist cannot be replaced at all. They do not sell replacement heads and it is different from the standard. So something to consider when buying the twist.

It's unfortunate that they have decided not to sell the R89 twist top cap separately, but this is good information for those who might have the same question.

I can confirm that the topcap for the R89 Twist is exactly the same as the standard R89 topcap. However, when you buy a replacement it comes in a set which includes a baseplate that you will have no use for.

Really? You tried it? I asked them specifically whether it fit and they said no.

I sent them a very long email saying how disappointed it was to sell a product with one replacement part that wasn't available. I'm at a fine product that should last many years is basically obsolete. All they said was thank you for your inquiry and very sorry

Yep I tried it and it works fine as both topcap are identical. The only thing you can't do is swap out the baseplate.
Thank you for confirming. I just bought the replacement head. I assume the customer service agent knows nothing about the product and is just reading back information on the product as the description on the site says "not suitable for the twist". I assume that's because the baseplate is useless but it's still valuable for someone like me with a perfectly good razor missing the top.

The replacement head did dit it's the same for all models. Have the base plate but don't need it but worthwhile investment
