moving itunes from on HD to another HD

I am a little dense on itunes and need some help. You may need to type slow for me to understand.:001_smile

A while back my Itunes was moved to a hard drive. My wife recently started here own business and I am trying to get all personal things moved to a personal hard drive.

How do I move my itunes from one hard drive to another. If this makes any difference I have both music and movies.

Thanks

There are probably all sorts of tricks that the iPodders can tell about importing and exporting files, etc. but when I did it I simply copied all the files in my itunes library to an external hard disk, created a designated "music-audio" folder on the new computer, and uploaded all the files to the directory (since all songs generally are stored in separate folders sorted by artist name this is pretty easy. I don't have movies so I don't know how this is done).

I then just downloaded itunes software, installed it, and used the "Add Files" function to reload everything into the new Itunes. Now, the only potential risks is that if you bought stuff from itunes it may consider moving it to another computer to be a copying violation. In any case, you should make sure you authorize the new Itunes account with the same user account names you used with the old version. And uninstall Itunes from the old computer.

The other thing is that you'll have to re-create your playlists using this method. There probably is a way of exporting playlists to a text file or something in Itunes. I've never figured it out. Others will know better.

Directly copying to an authorized machine should work fine (it has for me on several Macs).

You can have up to 5 computers authorized at a time. De-authorizing one frees up a slot for another to be authorized. Authorize the new computer/HD first and then Add Files.

-Plug in extra hard drive that you want files copied to
-On original computer, go to Itunes library
- Windows- My computer....C drive....Itunes....Itunes library
- Mac- Hard drive....Itunes.....Itunes library
- Right click on the icon of the itunes library
- Select "copy"
-Click on extra hard drive
-Windows- My computer...right click on extra hard drive and select "paste"
-Mac- RIght click on desktop icon of extra hard drive and select "paste"
-A message should come up saying copying X amount of files

I am running a pc.

Simple log into the computer and look under My Documents/My Music/iTunes Copy the entire iTunes Folder.. I have done this numerous times.. *I need to do this to my 200 GB win xp drive that was my old Desktop *have too much music there along with 25 GBs more on my mp3 drive in my gentoo file server lol...
