Most popular Truefitt & Hill scents

Does anyone want to guess at the three most popular Truefitt & Hill Scents and the 3 least popular? I would guess the three most popular (in order) would be 1) Trafalger, 2) Grafton 3) 1805 and I would guess the three least popular (in order) would be 1) Clubman 2) Limes 3) Spanish Leather. IT's just a guess. I'd be curious to find out how others would rank them.

I have no idea, but I'd say Trafalgar, Grafton, and 1805 would be tops. No way is Spanish Leather in the bottom three.

I like Grafton. Its a very masculine fragrance. My gf likes 1805, but I almost feel like its too generic. Its got that standard oceanic scent that you smell everywhere nowadays. Its a really nice cologne, I just like Grafton better.

PS Anyone else think Trafalgar smells like Fruit Loops? Thats all I can think about when I first put it on.

My gf likes 1805,
That's the thing. Everybody's girlfriend likes 1805. Maybe guys should think about that when choosing a T&H cologne.

A lot of people say this, but I don't really see it. I think 1805 smells much better than any of the "generic oceanic scents" on the market. As Dennis Miller always says, though, "that's only my opinion; I could be wrong."

Never thought about this. Now that you've put it into my head, though, I'll probably notice it the next time I use it.

Is "Clubman" a T&H scent? I thought it was Pinaud.

I have most of the T&H scents, but all are in different forms. I love the Trafalgar but don't get the resemblance to Froot-Loops (of course, I don't eat them). My only complaint with their shaving cream is that its difficult to wash way.

My brother recently spent a semester in England, and brought back a few samples of T&H cologne. He gave me a sample of Freshman, and I like it. It's not that unique, but it's pleasant

The first cream I ever tried was T&H 1805. Loved it (wife hated it but that's another story).

Point is I liked it so much I ordered their sampler. Did not like ANY of the others at all!

Must admit I only have and have only tried T&H Spanish Leather. Love it!! Have heard some poo-pooing it for not having any "leather", but that is why I love it! If anyone has any they don't want, cologne or aftershave splash, pm me!!

Won't hazard a guess as to the overall popularities, but my top three would be Trafalgar, Limes, and Grafton, in that order. Trafalgar stands above the other two for me. I think it's the jasmine that gives it a really soothing scent that's also fresh and not cloying. The 1805 gets a lot of love, but after I tried the cologne from the sampler, I didn't even bother with the cream or ASB. Blech!

I thought I responded earlier, but I guess not. My guess would be that Trafalgar is the top T&H scent, followed by Grafton, but for some reason those that really like one are not nearly as fond of the other. I think Grafton is a wonderful scent. I have a decent sized decant of it. Nothing else in the T&H line really caught my attention so all I have every had is the samples from T&H. Hard for me to remember them. Clubman is a T&H scent and also a Pinaud scent. I cannot really remember what the T&H version smells like, but I think it is fairly barbershop, just as the Pinaud "defines" barbershop.

Over time one certainly reads Spanish Leather and 1805 being mentioned more than Limes, Clubman, and Freshman.

OK, guys. I called T&H and here are the rankings:
1) Number one by a huge margin, not even close, is 1805.
2) Number two is Trafalgar.
3 & 4 are tied between Grafton and West Indian Limes.
5) is Spanish Leather
6 & 7 are tied between Freshman and Clubman.

That really doesn't surprise me. 1805 gets a lot of love on here, and is usually prominently stocked/displayed. I personally don't like it, but perhaps it works a lot better on others. Grafton is the only one I've actually bought and regularly use, although I would consider Trafalgar too.

That's funny because I couldn't tell the difference between their Clubman and 1805.. maybe they made a mistake with the samples. ??

I'm thinking you mean Freshman...the Freshman has mint in it. I actually liked the mint note but there was too much oceanic smell in it for me to tolerate.

Nope I meant Clubman. To my nose it's very close to 1805. If I'm way base on that, then maybe there was a mix up with the samples.

I don't really like the Freshman at all. It has a chemical note that irritates my nose. Plus I just didn't think it was all that masculine. It reminds me of Floris Cefiro, which is their unisex frag.

I think Freshmen smells good, but it's definitely not masculine. Almost a girly scent.

Emmet, your are dead on correct. I have been in touch with Truefitt & Hill and they indeed state that both 1805 and Freshman hare oceanic scents. The difference is in their top notes . . . 1805 having mandarin and cardamom. While Freshman has Rosemary and Lemon as its primary the top notes. It makes a huge difference, even though both are oceanic scents.

IMO Truefitt's Spanish Leather actually HAS leather (unlike Trumper's). It's a bit of an evening scent which is why I'd never buy it, but Spanish Leather is definitely my favorite in the entire T&H lineup. It's leather and soap with some musk, all three VERY identifiable in my opinion, with leather prominent.

Second favorite would be Grafton. Such a great gentlemanly scent.
